Meanwhile, on the bird site, the self-proclaimed classroom experts with no actual classroom experience still crow about the “Mississippi miracle”. 🤦🏻
Miracles are for Sundays. Monday through Friday, improving public schools requires 1% solutions, sweat, and shoe leather.

Old schoolers remember the baller 1990s move in states testing in grades 4 and 8: retain 3rd and 7th.

it's not good for kids to read books because it will prepare them for college, or for work, or for seminary, it's good for them in the moment because it helps them grow, in any number of unpredictable directions

Whether it's Staten Island Republicans screaming racist epithets at Zohran Mamdani or Manhattan Democrats bringing up Andrew Cuomo's history of sexual harassment and nursing home deaths, both sides have pushed the boundaries of civil political discourse.

NYC GOP mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa drives slowly through Bayside with cars of supporters honking their horns. Note that many cars HAD LICENSE PLATES COVERED WITH TAPE. NYPD officers also provided a police escort and blocked traffic so the caravan could proceed.

The problem with firing teachers over Charlie Kirk is that governors and this administration wanted to get rid of them anyways and just found a convenient and awful excuse.

As agents of the state, teachers will be under scrutiny.

It doesn't excuse the harmful effects of fascism on our profession.
