Deeply unimportant NHS-working, non-wingnut, left-ish, film-obsessed, Brit-Kiwi IT guy, based in London.

Anti-Brexit, anti-hate, anti-stupid; so very probably "liberal", "leftist", "woke" or something. Who knows.
I've stuck with Firefox for what feels like forever.

But if it gets any slower my loyalty is going to be revealed for what it is: laziness.

An epic laziness going back decades.

And all because I can't be arsed working out how to shift everything over to Chrome or Opera or Edge of whatever.

🚨Some personal news.

I'm thrilled to announce that I've just filed my first copy for The New Yorker.

A profile of Jonathan Gullis.

"You get the sense that offstage, Jonathan Gullis struggles with being Jonathan Gullis."

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

RIP Jimmy Cliff and Udo Kier, two icons of my youth for two different reasons, and this is not a good day for my heroes.

I’m not a great political analyst, but I do feel Labour have made a tactical error by opting to be cunts.

The main question I have for Labour is, what will you do when the polls don’t improve for you after this?

"governing by flinch"

The Bear, on point as usual.
At some point we have to stop pretending that Labour’s constant rightward drift is “grown-up politics” and call it out for what it is - governing by flinch.

And if pointing this out gets me into trouble - then trouble can pull up a chair.
An Island of Strangers, Led by a Party of Strangers
A Labour government with a historic majority has somehow decided the best way to beat the far right is to imitate its homework. Badly.

Congratulations to Labour who have won the coveted Tommy Robinson endorsement. Excited for sensibles to explain to me why I have to vote for the people enacting actual fascist policy.

Maybe Labour can distract from all this BBC kerfuffle by announcing another “kick the immigrants” policy.

Not as if anything more important going on.

Wondering why no one likes your posts anymore, even among your friends? It's because @jay.bsky.team and team have decided to hide a huge amount of content from all of our feeds by default.

Here's how to turn it off.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

Whatever the fuck this virus is going around London at the moment, it is now my firmly held belief that all you should STAY THE FUCK AWAY from it.

I always thought hot-sweating through to cold-shivering was movie exaggeration.

Not now.

I think I just gave myself a full-body shuddering.
