Deeply unimportant NHS-working, non-wingnut, left-ish, film-obsessed, Brit-Kiwi IT guy, based in London.

Anti-Brexit, anti-hate, anti-stupid; so very probably "liberal", "leftist", "woke" or something. Who knows.
Think we can safely count on his idea of “stability” to mean “simply make no movement at all”.

Shame it can’t be for us adults, eh?

"Yes, he could be -- " [pausing to shine torch under the chin] " -- a SOCIALIST."

[Cue gasps of pant-wettering.]

At least 18,500 dead Palestinian children we know about.

Look, I don't even like children that much, but seriously: fuck off now.

Ah, there's a copy of my old copy of Ken Macleod's.

Still love his stuff.

It's not him, Robinson insists, it's just those pesky “news avoiders”.

(I'm one of those million listeners he shed.)

No joke, but when I bought his "Cult Movies" book (and then th rest in the series) as an 18yo, it's safe to say Danny Peary shaped me for films from then on out.

My collection probably has over 90% of the films he wrote about.

Am sure this is apocryphal, but still: what a cunt.

And what a bullet-miss for those that left.
December 1, 2025 at 12:49 PM
And the ever-supercilious Nick Robinson will say their dropping ratings are down to us "just avoiding bad news".

It's apparently all our fault, as listeners.

To think since 2000 to last year I used the radio alarm to wake me up with the Today programme...

...it's fucking unbearable now.

Really think they could just stop now. It's not working.

Good to see some love for Peter Watts. Discovered the guy a few years back, "Firefall", and it knocked my socks off.

Thanks for this. I think I enjoyed every word.

"...harder to retire"?

Those two clowns lost me a third of my pension value, and yet somehow it's Labour that's made it "harder to retire"?

Kiwi here -- that's putting him too close to New Zealand.

Never mind that being the final 60 seconds that bloke had.

That was probably the longest 60 seconds he ever had.
