Yup! I think, psychoanalyzing my own hatred of AI, that a lot of it stems from an intuition that what people want out of AI (affirmation, therapy, instant gratification) is what they increasingly want (or are being trained to want) out of art and culture

Trump: "Mike Johnson is a very religious person. He does not hide it. He'll say to me sometimes at lunch, 'Sir, may we pray.' I'll say, 'Excuse me? We're having lunch.'"

Love all, help all.

I love this take. I'm sure there are holes in this that smarter people could identify, but to me, if you are chasing a purely *Christian* political worldview, this feels like the really natural endpoint (credit @sojo.net @tylerhuckabee.bsky.social)

An actual hot take: Too many authors are afraid of editors watering down their voice or whatever and not afraid enough of editors letting you put any old slop on the page.

Pentagon demands journalists pledge to not obtain unauthorized material
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is imposing strict new rules that would severely limit the ability of journalists to report on the Pentagon.

Every major publication in this country needs to have dedicated staffers or correspondents reporting on gaming, streamers, podcasts, and TikTok. Not as a once in a while thing. As standard beats. These are massive segments of American culture. No excuses for it anymore.
basically a generational cohort split here where certain younger people intuitively grasp the irony poisoned context, and if you aren't already up to speed, very hard to explain
Watching the cable news commentary on the bullet engravings is wild because none of these people seem to realize that the content of the engravings are indicative of extremely online meme brain rot

It is actually so pleasurable and INVOLVING to fill in the blanks and use your imagination as a viewer. It binds you to the material, makes you invested. and there are fewer and fewer mainstream entertainments that give you room to do that

This is also why people got obsessive over GOT I think. And why ANDOR feels like such good Star Wars. But 99% of exec notes ESPECIALLY for world buildy stuff demand that everything be airtight, explained, bulletproof before a greenlight is even a whisp of a percentage of a possibility
It gives the feeling that you really are witnessing a tiny little slice, a tiny episode, in what is a real, ongoing, vast universe, with its own history. It does this, again, by *not* explaining. By *not* showing. By leaving 95% of what it discusses & references to your imagination.

There's something profoundly sad about some Christians, esp. clergy, saying "IF Jesus were here…" or "Jesus WOULD..." My point isn't a semantic gotcha, but that we Christians have to talk about Jesus like He's actually alive (because He is!) and not just a Good Moral Example locked in the past.
