This is a key point. Increasingly the ultra-gentry aren't "well if it gets us a 25% increase in profits I'm fine with the occasional coup" it's "I'm going to be an immortal space vampire lord. We should burn down every living plant to fuel my pet flattery machine and drone strike the poor for fun."
Some of them are open and enthusiastic neo-Nazis. They hate Black Americans. They hate trans people. They hate Muslims. None of these billionaires are going to bankroll a new socially liberal age. They are using their money to terrorize the marginalized right now.

My constituent, Wilmer, was mauled by an ICE attack dog despite the fact that, as he has consistently explained, he was not resisting arrest or trying to flee—his wife and young children, all U.S. citizens, were forced to watch helplessly as Wilmer was violently attacked and dragged away.

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.
