This was a must read when Dr. Snyder first published this, and it is more of a must read today, as is his book On Tyranny, and the ever greater Expanded Audio Edition of On Tyranny.
Six months ago I wrote this post about “the next terrorist attack.” I republish it now (lightly updated) because my fear of this scenario has recently grown much greater.

Trump officials are planning to propose oil drilling off the California coast for the first time in decades, according to a draft map reviewed by The Post.

The move is sure to antagonize Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats in California.
Trump administration plan would open California to offshore oil drilling
A draft five-year plan for offshore oil development proposes selling leases on the West Coast, Gulf of Mexico and Alaska.

During the night, an oil refinery in the city of Saratov was attacked. The refinery produces over 20 types of petroleum products — gasoline, fuel oil, diesel fuel, vacuum gas oil, technical sulfur, and more — and operates to meet the needs of the Russian army.

The "appropriate response" is to broadcast everything that Trump did and said on that appalling day for American democracy and then to tell this moron to sling his hook.
I might be wrong, but this stinks of Pharage involvement.

Justice Department struggles as thousands exit — and few are replaced
The Justice Department has lost thousands of experienced attorneys and backfilled a fraction of the open jobs, in part because of a lack of qualified candidates.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

People living in countries with Universal Healthcare don’t envy the US system

They don’t want for profit healthcare

There are some Americans who insist on defending their healthcare system even as it bankrupts (or kills) people for profit…. But most would happily switch systems if they could

Why is #Lithuania still trading with this Russian satellite state in the first place? Whatever ends up in #Belarus probably ends up in Russia, to assist Russia's economy and war effort.

Close the border. Cease all trade. Until Russia collapses and becomes civilised (if ever).
Belarus threatens to seize Lithuanian trucks after border closure
Lithuania closed the two border crossings with Belarus on 29 October after meteorological balloons flying from Belarus caused repeated disruption to air traffic.

Schumer allows a provision to go into the supposedly “clean” CR to allow people like Ted Cruz to file lawsuits for money over Jack Smith’s J6 investigation. Amazing Dem leadership in the senate. Thanks Chuck!

Now is the time to fight, not surrender. 🗣️

Schumer must step down from his post as minority leader and allow for new leadership to emerge—someone who is willing to consistently fight for the American people.

Still processing the inanity of this cave, like, "We're going to make Republicans go on record that they want to destroy the ACA." You mean the motherfuckers who radicalized in opposition to it & voted to repeal it, like, 22 times? You're finally getting them on record? Really impressed over here

So apparently senators must now be notified in advance if their phone records are requested during the investigation of a crime. No one else, just senators. So they're free to crime and can't be investigated without notice. This is so wrong, but it's great for senators who want to commit crimes.
