We're like a squabbling family whose car broke down in "Hills Have Eyes" country, smoke coming from the hood, and vowing to buy a better brand of spark plugs, or fill the tank with premium gasoline next time.

The engine blew up, son. You either need a new engine or a new car, period.

The Senate is on recess this whole week.

The Senators could all be in Minneapolis right now, riding with ICE patrols, speaking out about what's happening, and standing up for what's right.

That they are not is a choice.

The only way out of all this is comprehensive immigration reform, which means the only way out of this is eliminating the Senate filibuster. End of discussion. When you hear the word filibuster, think about Renee Good. About kids being detained. Don't let Senators bullshit you about this anymore.

For a country so routinely besotted with sex and porn, there is this incredibly dumb weirdness around pretending that it isn't. 🍆🍑🌋

Yep, beyond any specific policy issue (defund ICE, etc.), the broad "ideal" (for lack of a better word) that has to go in the dustbin is the notion that there's some pre-Trump condition worth "returning" to, if only *he* were gone.

It's those conditions that *led* to Trump.

If we are going to get past authoritarianism this feckless simulacrum (like we're seeing on Dem affordability messaging) needs to die and be replaced by meaningful reforms and corporate accountability that restore institutional faith or we are cooked

I honestly do not understand the point of this. What is this supposed to accomplish? Are we hopping into a time machine and heading back to 2023-24 when *someone* (please, no names!) could and should have *done* something about it?

@neguse.house.gov points out that four police officers, seated behind Jack Smith, are the same ones who protected Republicans during the Jan 6 attack.

Now, those same Republicans are trying to rewrite history and deny the violence Trump incited, right in front of the officers who saved their lives.

The refusal to answer *is*, of course, their answer.

As a smart guy once said, choosing not to decide still counts as a choice, and the Dems have made theirs, openly and with observable volition.

They want to pretend this is *happening to them*, against their will.

No.

Rubio is probably more correct than not in that assumption -- the second Trump finally buys the farm, Rubio will pivot to mop-up mode, and the corporate media will rush to help him fill that gap.

They'll rehab him from Trump's Bormann to The Last Reasonable Man" in 2 weeks.

Yup. When this is over, we won't "move on" -- every single one of these kevlar deadbeat-dad gerbils should be followed and hounded until they go home, eat one last cheeseburger, and Do The Honorable Thing.

Not remotely kidding about that. These are profoundly evil people.

Nope. Not good enough. The only acceptable iteration of the agency at this point is as an unarmed dept. of clipboard carriers.

If they want to bust actual criminals they can coordinate with local law enforcement. There's no need for masked kidnap-murder squads. At all.
