We need to nerf federal law enforcement and stick the un-nerfed guys on a desk until some specific crisis arises, which will likely make most of the BORTAC cosplayers quit or do something else.

But POLICE dressed like this is absolutely inconsistent with democracy.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing this a lot over the next few years but this is one of the more blatant examples of how America surrendered what could have been one of the largest industrial and production booms in decades because half the country decided it was woke and gay
The most important technological revolution of our lifetime has nothing to do with AI:

Important to realize also that, once constructed, solar infrastructure just keeps working*, for decades, with very little additional cost. There's no need for a constant stream of inputs like fossil fuels.
Check this one fact out:

"In 2024, the total installed electricity capacity of the planet—every coal, gas, hydro, and nuclear plant and all of the renewables—was about 10 terawatts. The Chinese solar supply chain can now pump out 1 terawatt of panels every year."

sorry to pick on you but “don’t panic, just go 50% bonds” is extremely good shit
would probably be good to diversify out of tech tho. at least try to be 50% bonds and other equities. Although I said the same thing this time last year and tech went up like 40%

Just going to reiterate the idea of blasting "Baby Shark" every time Bovino appears in public.
Minnesotans are the perfect people to bring back the next wave of mockery. Fascism is powerless against it.

The extremist lurch of the GOP is in many ways the only political story of the last 30 years and for the most part all media has done is pretend the opposite is true.
Read this excellent piece.

Buckle is right. Liberalism is alive and well -- in fact, more popular & more activist than any time since Reagan.

Liberals did not become fascists. Conservatives became fascists.

Liberalism did not die. The center-right died so the far-right might live.

This is such a widespread sickness among pundits. Pointing out that Republicans are lying about welfare fraud — and have been for decades — doesn't qualify as a publishable take.

So you get this bizarre fixation on optics and this amorphous demand for Dems to "admit" something they admit already.

Cumulative advances in knowledge are threatening to people who only want to use somatic reasoning and who respond to all new things memetically. They want to imitate authorities rather than have humility and accept extrinsic realities through abstraction.

This is the conservative epistemology.

all due respect to Anthony but I do dislike Ilan. his sloppy, shitty scholarship has all been towards the ends of denaturalizing american citizens, creating a permanent underclass, and supporting fascism. he's scum of the earth and some unkind words are the least of what he deserves
I want to address my friend Ilan who says here that he has been subject to “a lot of hate” from academics who “should know better” and haven’t respected the “academic enterprise.”

I don’t dislike Ilan. I also think his paper is fundamentally wrong and not scholarly.

News outlets, STOP using hackneyed and misleading language to describe govt violence.

"Protesters clashed with federal agents"

In Minneapolis, in 100+ videos during the past 6 weeks, time and again, we see a bunch of folks just standing around being unprovokedly SET UPON by federal agents.
Protesters clashed with federal agents for another night outside the Whipple Federal Building, which holds ICE detainees. Agents fired less-lethal munitions and deployed chemical irritants at the crowd.

They don’t know who they’re taking because:
-they don’t talk to them
-they’re random pedestrians

It is literally indistinguishable from a kidnapping when you see it, except there are so many of them, and they are more heavily armed and armored than any kidnapper would ever be.

bro, i think your parents dropped you on your head when you were a baby
I am introducing the Quick Recognition (QR) Act, which requires ICE and CBP officers to wear uniforms featuring QR codes. When scanned, the code would generate a digital ID displaying the officer’s name, badge number, and law enforcement agency.

ICE should be unmasked both physically and digitally.
