This, from @jamellebouie.net is exactly right. And I think so many folks have refused to see or admit what Trump is because admitting implicates them, or their families, so denial is easier.

I mean, you primitives have yet to release a profane computer generated video of your head of state defecating on the masses. What do you do over there, hit each other with clubs yelling UNGA BUNGA instead of shooting each other like civilized folk?

Listening and learning from the bizarre land known as "Britain" in which a scandal may cause a political official to resign rather than post an AI video of them dumping their own feces out of a F/A-18E Super Hornet on social media. Truly an alien culture.

Yes, everyone should manage their own risk. Resisting ICE, even as a peaceful and law-abiding observer, is not risk-free. We’ve seen people brutalized and killed for it.

But I want people to weight risks correctly. They likely know who you are - you’re following them! The risk is primarily violence
I'm not going to argue about folks masking or not. Each of us has to take our own risk assessment. There are risks we know.

It's hard to overstate the degree to which the general public is being lied to about trans people
Alex Massie trumped up a fake campaign in the times to claim hundreds of rape convictions for women in the justice system were actually trans women despite the numbers covering several hundred more convictions than there are trans women in prison for any crime.
To understand how much Alex Massie actually cares about women's safety: when I called out his transphobe-in-arms Nick Cohen for multiple acts of sexual misconduct against cis women, which eventually got him sacked, Massie went berserk at me.

Transphobia is a men's rights movement in drag.

Is anybody ever gonna take a step back and realize the "Russia Russia Russia" people — derided as lunatic wine moms — were actually underplaying the foreign influence stuff, and the loud people who kept insisting it was all fake are now saying Jeffrey Epstein was kind of a cool guy?

the problem of DHS is much less its administrative arrangement & more that US immigration law is utter garbage
This is what Homeland Security was supposed to be, but it was so worked up first with hunting terrorists & later with "illegals" that it never figured out how to not be a cancer

imo a core function of a post-DHS org for federal immigration, customs, and border stuff needs to be "clerks not cops"
yeah there is actually a mess of things you have to solve with like actual border control, customs, immigration services, and then a bunch of miscellaneous law enforcement and fusion functions... in theory this is an opportunity for some broader IC/FLE reorg but lol lmao at that
I think there is a pretty clear-cut argument that DHS as named has to go

But people are gonna need to quickly do some reckoning with the realities of what that will actually look like and what entities from DHS will still be around if you don't want "abolish ICE" to be the next "defund the police"

We’ll see, but it seems Dems may be headed for a Tea Party-scale reckoning with their base in 2026.

It’s hard not compare the two. We’re activated because monsters are murdering, stealing, and attempting an ethnic cleansing in our name. Republicans mobilized in 2010 because the president was Black.

"You can't prove that!"
WaPo editorial board when TX imposes a legislative gerrymander: don't freak out guys! Not a threat to democracy!

When VA responds to TX with *referendum* on their own gerrymander: brass-knuckled hypocrisy, anti-democratic gamesmanship.

There is hypocrisy here, all right, but not from VA.
