One sees things like this, and one is drawn to the historical recollection of the vile things the vain rich were driven to stuff into themselves, a century ago. Monkey glands, goat testicles, you name it... Nothing changes...

I also think that part of this is the weird disappearance of economics from our national debate.

It just... doesnt seem to matter that much to many people

I know most of the focus is on RFK Jr.'s weird horny texts, but the news that he used to spam Bill Nye with anti-vax weirdness and Bill was like, "Dude, you're you're confusing correlation for causation" is the only RFK text-message news I will ever need.

Just thinking about the profound impact on our lives that the craven, selfish, petty choices made by ‘access journalists’ has had. Never working again is the bare minimum of accountability.

the takeaway is that the entire media was so delighted at a lie by a serial fabulist who fucked her way through all of her sources and editors to get where she was that they ignored anything even vaguely revealing a public responsibility
i'm just hung up on "the entire media let itself get dogwalked into stabbing Democracy to death by a lady who was just doing it because she was hung up on RFK Jr.'s piss and breeding kinks", it's genuinely unbelievable to me

if she were an actual agent of an enemy polity i think i'd hate it less

One of Keir Starmer’s tragedies is that his political instincts are much better than his hiring ones, which is why so many stories have the form of “Starmer [wanted to do something they obviously had to do]. But his chancellor and his chief aide convinced him they should hold out, fruitlessly”.

People will die, and are currently dying, because RFK was granted one of the most powerful megaphones in the country. Two people who could have thrown barriers in front of his climb decided not to; there's a sex scandal here but it is not the biggest scandal.

Disagree. The media failed to adequately cover Trump and they especially failed to cover Kennedy with the heft, seriousness, and alarm he warranted.

The fact that a major journalist was a hornball pervert for one of the worst actors in 2024 (RFK), who may have been the difference maker, matters.
you know, what if they aren't actually a commentary on journalism or the state of media. what if these people are just extremely weird

I am a little tired of being yelled at for this but apparently not tired about: heroin addiction is not RFK’s problem. He’s a sociopath. Most addicts aren’t. Honestly, walk into an NA meeting, grab the first person with a few years to be head of HHS and they’d probably do a better job than Bobby.
This is what happens when you put a privileged, 14 year heroin addict in charge of health. Duh
