Covid is gonna shape American politics for years and years because it was the first time most Americans were asked to make sacrifices and they lost their minds because of it.
That's kinda the vibe of so many folks I grew up near (South Texas) of the older generations.

They’re just wrong. What happened is liberals didn’t push back and in fact they ceded the argument to the right. In 2016 there were consequences for the NC bathroom bill and they retreated, but then liberals got scared of Trump. It’s the exact same thing they did with immigration.
i listened to the Ezra Klein/Sarah McBride interview, and her entire position revolves around a completely unproven assertion: the idea what caused the shift in polls away from trans rights is the rhetoric of the left. that might be true, but i haven’t seen any real evidence for it.
