Patient came in with sore throat. While waiting for rapid Strep test result we glanced back at the Covid-19 RAT result: positive. Reminder that masking in health care makes sense, if you don’t want everyone in your waiting room to go home sick, your staff to get sick, and physicians to get sick.

Took the HSR to work today for the first time in a bit because of the weather forecast. I'd forgotten how *loud* some of the @cityofhamilton.bsky.social buses are. Every bump or dip in the road it sounded like it was going to rattle itself apart. I couldn't even hear the announcer bot. #HamOnt

A sad day for cyclists. Bill 60 - which prohibits the conversion of motor vehicle lanes to bike lanes (or any other prescribed purpose) - has passed Third Reading this morning which will kill various cycling projects in Toronto & across Ontario. #shame #BikeTO #BikeSky #TOpoli #ONpoli #VisionZero

People who oppose gender affirming care for kids would rather have a corpse that matches assigned gender than a live and happy trans child.
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Podcatchers, Youtube, and other "massive queue of auto-playing content" applications need a "this is the point in my history where I fell asleep re-add all the stuff afterwards to my queue".

Ugh, I'd heard they'd backed off on the big month-to-month lease item but no-cost no-cause eviction in 120 days is still nasty:

> scraps the need for a landlord to offer a tenant compensation if they would like to take their property back for their own use, as long as they give 120 days notice.
A shameful day for Ontario.

Good news everyone! Google agreed to try and support JPEG XL in Chrome, allow efficient compression, alpha channels, and 20% efficiency improvement when recompressing existing jpegs.

So expect "what the hell is a .jxl?" in addition to "what the hell is a .webp?" and "what the hell is an .avif?"

Seeing how much of the right-wing on Twitter is just bot farms, kinda lays bare how much hate and hatred is a project that needs to be constantly maintained, a fire that needs to be fed all the time lest it go out for a moment, so much time, effort, and resources to keep people angry and hateful.

This is why I think spending time on slick production for a video podcast is a giant waste. The main benefit to a video podcast is it lives on YouTube and a decent number of people like to ingest things that way. They push play and tab away from it immediately. I could be nude, no one would know.
*banging a metal pot with a wooden spoon very loudly*

people want to LISTEN to podcasts!!!!!!!!!!!!

*hitting you on the forehead with the spoon*

STOP PIVOTING TO VIDEO

I have a weird pet theory that a huge chunk of the population is just not price-sensitive at all and just pays whatever, and that's how Rogers and upscale Loblaws exists.

As a PHEV owner who plugs-in religiously, I consider my theory validated by this article:

www.cbc.ca/news/climate...
Drivers aren't charging their plug-in hybrid cars, research suggests | CBC Climate Change News
Plug-in hybrid cars are a compromise for people wanting range with electric capability. But new research finds they’re less green than you think — so how should they fit into a zero-emissions future?
