The “class war over everything” populist rhetoric is mind numbingly stupid.

my ally is a suburban lawyer outside of Charlotte who voted for Romney and is now fundraising for Roy Cooper. Not a poor coal miner in West Virginia who spent all of his money on an F-150 with Trump flags

Bluesky, seeing gay rights activists in the 80's partying at nightclubs after a day of advocacy: READ THE ROOM, DON'T YOU KNOW PEOPLE ARE *DYING*?!?!!
Yes, that's why the parties exist. A love of life is why you live, it's not a treat you get after Activisming enough like a trained dog.

Interesting to see people in MN respond to this with support while nutbars from outside of MN scream at her to READ THE ROOM and how she shouldn't WASTE TIME on something as FRIVOLOUS as this.
Sorry, people still had county fairs in wartime.
In Minnesota, we won't stop welcoming people from around the world. Undeterred by the ice or ICE, Stillwater, MN hosted its annual world snow competition, bringing 16 international teams that turn blocks of snow into art. Congrats to first-place Canada 🇨🇦, Mongolia and Thailand for second and third!

Nuanced take: I think it's really important to give *normal citizens* who supported Trump and off-ramp and *professional writers, pundits and politicians* who supported Trump should have to wear it like a scarlet letter for the rest of their lives
This is aggravating, because on the one hand I think it's really important to give fascists an off-ramp and positive reinforcement when they use it...

...on the other hand, FUCK that guy, in particular.

We also have our YOUTH doing much needed advocacy work. All of our youth from the fams we support are organizing and sharing their stories because we create the environment for them to do so. As an undocumented youth I’d never thought to have a space like this to process a loss like this

The only legitimate derangement syndromes I have seen are around Will Stancil and Hillary Clinton.
I'm usually roll my eyes at "so-and-so derangement syndrome", but there's a strain of Will Stancil hate that should absolutely be in the DSM

"During the darkest days of the AIDS crisis, we buried our friends in the morning, we protested in the afternoon, and we danced all night.

The dance kept us in the fight because it was the dance we were fighting for."
I'm gonna say this with all the kindness in my heart: you aren't going to survive if you don't let your life have room for other things.

This is not a short term fight where we can just go 24/7 and then it will be over. We've got YEARS ahead of us. Take a break. Hydrate. Go bake something. Breathe.

Americans are going to have to learn that choices matter in a way that they haven't had to learn in a long time. They've been insulated from bad choices for decades but that is coming to an end.
Fundamentally the lesson American voters took from Trump I and Stop the Steal is that Worse Things Aren't Possible imo
The North Atlantic Treaty was, to be fair, on the ballot in 2016, ‘20, and ‘24 and a decadent voting public made some horrible choices.

Mubashir and his family came to the United States as refugees from Ethiopia when he was a child, and they all became naturalized citizens in 2019.

Despite being a U.S. citizen, Mubashir was targeted by ICE, assaulted, and detained. Listen to his story:

Bluesky posters will be like you “you think massive universal legal resistance with total support from the population works? that pales in comparison to my strategy, winning a shootout with an ICE army” and then not win a shootout with an ICE army
Oh my god theyre killing rosa luxemburg again lmao, your failure to engage in armed resistance is speedrunning you towards death camps
There’s no real debate. I have witnessed a very small number of ICE activists advocating for carrying firearms or even trying to agitate by physically striking ICE vehicles, etc. Let’s be clear: the incredibly vast majority of people resisting ICE correctly believe these people are fools.

One side effect of hardening myself against social media's performative misanthropy is that I no longer have patience for films/books/tv that operate from a cynical standpoint and act like humanity isn't worth saving. That's not cool or edgy anymore, all I see is the author's untreated depression.

I am going to be honest that if you aren’t sure whether or not it would be good if the fascists kill a prominent anti-fascist activist with whom you have developed an inscrutable parasocial antagonism, I really doubt the sincerity of your commitment to leftism or anti-fascism

people gotta chill out about making normative vs. descriptive claims. it’s tedious to have to specify “of course, I do NOT support fire” if you’re talking about a house burning down.

It's a fucking lie. The "free speech crisis" was just a collection of duct-taped-together anecdotes plucked from obscurity by right-wing media. These people were never against "conformity" or "censorship," they just wanted to promote conservative ideas and crush liberal ones.

So you’re telling me that the guy who’s dating Nancy Mace’s CoS hastily posted something re: Senate Dems that served to confirm the priors of cynical accelerationists before quickly walking it back?

Oof. Keep the pressure on no matter what. No funding increase, and when we win, abolish ICE.
🚨BREAKING: DEMS DRAW RED LINE IN DHS APPROPS: NO FUNDING INCREASE FOR ICE. POLICY RIDERS GROWING. STORY COMING IN MIGRANT INSIDER
🚨NEWS: Senate Dems are reportedly offering ICE funding increases in exchange for body cams and de-escalation training for agents.

Body cams can be turned off. De-escalation training can be ignored.

Unclear if no masks, requiring ID badges, and no immunity is on the table.
