Here's how Greg Bovino denies tackling Scott Blackburn, while watching a video showing him tacking Scott Blackburn.

For those saying there will be no consequences for Bovino.

Maybe.

But DOJ has had to dismiss a slew of cases bc of this, and Bovino seems to now spend his time trolling on Xitter (he likes to call me "empty tire" when I note he's an adjudged liar).

No bailouts. The US should extort these companies when the crash happens so they get minimal compensation in return for nationalizing the entire panopticon industry and then destroying it once harvested for socially useful parts. It won’t happen but it should
when its definitely not a hostage situation

Today, after months of requests, I toured the Broadview ICE Processing Facility. I want to share what I saw.

The facility has no food vendor, no medical care, and detainees have to use toilets in the middle of shared cells. These are in no way suitable conditions to be holding anyone — period.

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

The moves come after a $60 million lobbying blitz from the chemical industry.

This is why you always follow the money.

The EPA has approved two new pesticides with "forever chemicals" that will be used on food.

The agency has also announced plans for four additional approvals.

The approved pesticides will be used on vegetables such as romaine lettuce, broccoli and potatoes.

loons and monsters who should never ever be listened to, and in fact should be unacceptable in a polite society
In leaked audio recordings, Peter Thiel reveals he told JD Vance to ignore Pope Leo XIV on moral issues, including the development of ethical AI. He also suggested the American pope was a tool of the Antichrist.

In fairness, accusing the current pope of being the antichrist is one of Peter Thiel’s most traditionalist and conservative behaviors

Definitely an overlooked point: The authoritarian far right, including its white nationalist iterations, are self-consciously global in scope and liberals need to adapt to that:
The movement to destroy liberal democracy is international, and so must be its defense
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

Like we can decide that if the LLM returns nonsense 1% of the time, that’s probably fine and we don’t need to check over everything it does.

If it returns nonsense 20% of the time, then you’ve probably gotta spend more time checking it than you would doing the work yourself. It wouldn’t be worth it

If we test a drug and it seems to work, but there’s a 6% chance that result is due to random error, then we don’t say the drug works. We say the result is not significant and don’t adopt the drug.

It’s weird that we’re not approaching LLM information this way.

We can figure out what the probability is that a positive (the drug works) result is due to chance. We as a community have generally agreed that if the probability its due to chance is 5% or less, that’s good enough.

Like we recognize that because of random chance, sometimes we will get studies where it looks like a drug cures a disease, but it’s really just chance. Some people might spontaneously get better or will, by chance cut out a bad thing from their diet.

We account for that statistically.

One thing thats annoyed me about ai adoption is how self identified data and science people are approaching it so unscientifically.

Before making a decision about whether to accept something as true or adopt a new drug, etc, scientists set a parameter of acceptable error.

But we dont for ai?
