A lot of people are saying "why don't you just fail them?" which absolutely makes sense as a solution if you don't understand university teaching as (often precarious) labor done by humans within a system with really effed up dynamics.
An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

A decade or so ago a few friends and I got together and did a table read of "Angels in America" on two nights over dinner.
They gave me Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern" in hopes we'd do that one next, but then life became stressful and then I left town so we never did.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

Australien hatte 2025 die heftigste Grippesaison seit Beginn der Aufzeichnungen (>410.000 Fälle). Das ist meist eine Vorwarnung für die Nordhalbkugel. Wer noch keine Grippeimpfung hat, sollte diese jetzt nachholen. Die Grippeimpfung wirkt - besonders gegen schwere Verläufe.

Wir sollten aufhören, es Halluzinationen zu nennen , wenn eine KI-Software uns Bullshit erzählt. Das klingt als könne sie nichts dafür, sei nur kurz geblendet worden oder versehentlich im Drogenrausch. Es sind Lügen. LLMs sind Lügenmaschinen. Ihre Entwickler haben sie als potentielle Lügner gebaut.
