A reminder that ICE hasn’t slowed down in Minneapolis at all.

Outside of Minnesota, it might feel like everything has changed since Alex Pretti’s murder. But ICE hasn’t actually lost any power and they’re continuing to terrorize our communities.

Victor Manuel Diaz died in ICE custody on January 14.

His fundraiser sits at $5,138 the cost to bring him home for burial is $4,750.

I imagine his family needs more breathing room to grieve.

I’ll match the first $200 in donations.

BTW, if Senate Dems want technical reforms, here's one: amend 8 USC 1357 so DHS agents do not have power to arrest without a judicial warrant unless they are GS-1811, grade of GS-13 or higher.

Real criminal investigations would be unaffected, but CBP & ICE goon squads would be severely limited.

A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line

I'm not celebrating Bovino going under the bus because I think it means this is over.

I'm celebrating that we've entered the Shitheads Going Under the Bus era.

God I'm so pumped to trip more of them under it.

If your Representative or Senators start going "whew! I guess it's ok to give DHS funding now" be ready to get on their cases
Today’s retreat is absolutely an attempt to take pressure off of Congress to rein in ICE so that a funding package can get through.

That pressure has been effective. We can celebrate Minneapolis’ win but we need to keep the pressure on. They’re not going to stop forever.

Shoveling in Philly: guy went past me on skis in the middle of the street
Shortly after a car driving down the street got stuck. Ski guy and a bunch of other neighbors helped him get unstuck. I hope he made it wherever he was going.

We are calling our senators right now and demanding that they vote no on the omnibus with DHS funding

We are explicitly mentioning ICE’s murder in cold blood of a man on the streets of Minneapolis this morning

If you’re struggling, I’m copy pasting what a trauma therapist friend suggested here:

“Highly recommend dunking your face in a bowl of cold water, drinking some water to help your body flush the adrenaline and finding something to smell or touch for grounding and avoiding dissociation”

they’re abducting our neighbors and putting them in concentration camps and they’ll empty a whole goddamn magazine into you while you’re lying on the ground if you don’t cheer them on while they’re fucking doing it.

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

I've talked to people on the ground about the strike here tomorrow, and the single thing everyone brings up is just how shockingly wide the support for the strike is. Businesses that no one would have expected to support it are doing so.
National media should really be covering the fact thay every major school, museum, and arts institution in the Twin Cities, and hundreds of local businesses are closed tomorrow to protest federal occupation.

Nothing like this at this scale has happened anywhere in America anytime in living memory.
