The problem with social media is that you’re only allowed to hold opinions in batches. If you believe X and Y, you must also believe Z, which is atmospherically similar to X and Y and believed by all the same people.

If you don’t do this, everyone hates you. It makes actual thinking impossible.

“Well this instance is complicated,” or “this is different than the other thing,” or “the facts here just don’t add up” - none of that is allowed. If you try to approach topics that way you will literally end up a pariah.

The nyt makes a bold assertion in its head and lede but its story relies heavily on the undocumented claims from a little known entity called EntTelligence. It’s been cited in just a small handful of news stories in its six years of existence, invariably about supposed red-blue state audiences.
So the NYT calls this movie, that is on track to lose $50-60 million, a "strong showing".
We're on our own out here folks.

I wonder if the New York Times will go after any of the prominent academics in the Epstein files for being rapists as hard as they went after Claudine Gay for being kind of sloppy with citations in her graduate thesis.

If not, why not?
Here’s Duke behavioral economist Dan Ariely asking Jeffrey Epstein for “the name and email of the redhead that was here with you.” This is four years after Epstein’s 2008 conviction for procuring a child for prostitution.

Trump is controlling EVERYONE with fear. Politicians, foreign nations, universities, industries. "What if he does something to me?"

Well, what if he does?! Is that the worst thing anyone has ever experienced? Time in jail? A court fight? You lose your job? Is that worth your god-given free will

schumer sucks shit as always but i think there is something useful here to show here. when anybody advocates for incrementalism, reform, all that: to get *this* level of incrementalism from your reps, *this is how bad things have to be*.

getting mild steps, mild change, takes nuclear force.
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.

What lesson do you think they will learn from "we didn't shit on Biden enough?" That all their instincts are already correct. That they should double down on holding Dems to a higher standard. That they should give *more* credence to the right-wing operators whispering in their ears.

And how convenient for them! If they acknowledged those other fuckups, they might have to learn the lesson, "we shouldn't be so credulous toward those in power. We shouldn't allow the right wing to manipulate us so easily. We should tell the truth about political asymmetry in the US."

But, when they reflect on a loss of trust in the media, what mistake do they cite? What's the one mistake they actually acknowledge and own up to?

You guessed it: not shitting on Biden hard enough or early enough! Of all the fuckups, that's the one they ostentatiously, publicly point to.

Think back over all the things the U.S. media has completely and utterly messed up in the 21st century. - Bush stealing the election. 9/11. The war in Iraq. The Tea Party. The Clinton/Trump election.

The way in which the US Supreme Court has been trying to for a year now illogically carve out a "none of this applies to the Fed" exemption from the administration's reign of terror on civic institutions, which it is otherwise agrees with, underlines the only way to hurt these guys is in the money.
Kavanaugh is sounding even more skeptical than any of the other conservatives. He's coming out and saying "letting you do this would hurt Fed independence".
