Anti-Ukraine arguments over the past few years are mostly well ensconced in the Intellectual Dishonesty Hall of Fame at this point, but there is a particular place on the podium for those who portray Zelenskyy like he's Franjo Tudjman.

Not forgotten here!
love it when a comic strip reminds us of long forgotten ethnic stereotypes like "scottish people are cheap"

Government should simply stop pressing the button in the DfE marked “low quality degrees” and instead start pressing the button marked “high quality apprenticeships”, duh!
Also when they explain which businesses are going to offer these apprenticeships and how they're going to improve the high drop-out rate and poor quality of many of them.
Badenoch says the Conservatives would want fewer “low value degrees” and many more apprenticeships. As ever with such announcements I will perhaps take it more seriously when the kids of government ministers and MPs are routinely doing apprenticeships and not degrees.

Going to be fun if this is applied to Northern Ireland.

My favourite bit of COVID was watching a group of teens sit socially distanced in a circle in the park, wearing masks, which they each removed and replaced in turn as they passed a spliff between them.

Of course, of course.
"Gareth Sheridan went to Tucker Carlson's Christmas party" is already crazy, but "Gareth Sheridan took a photo with the world's most famous antisemitic conspiracy theorist, then voluntarily posted it on the Internet" is blowing my fucking mind

IMO this also gets at another fundamental MAGA divide which is that most of them like Noem primarily want to pump out deportation content, which is going very well, while Miller genuinely wants to permanent reshape the demographics of American society, which is not
That Miller reportedly wants Noem gone because she's not being aggressive enough really shows how high on their own supply these guys are. What they're doing is already historically unpopular, and they want to do it even harder.
i am skeptical trump would actually go through with this, even if miller wants it, but i am even *more* skeptical of the idea that youngkin would take the job.

This discourse made me want to look at Unherd and I see they have a piece on how the Brooks Brothers riot saved America.
Apparently Tim Montgomerie, ex-Tory strategist, congenital moron and founder of the site, called it such as he believed cows didn't form herds.

Real classic example of "only left wingers have agency" here.
The answer is no, it's not the job of journalists to never criticise the left in case it drives Joe Lonsdale to be more sexist. You could just as easily argue that leftwing over-reach caused that and it would be better if it had been inhibited by more scrutiny. Reality is more complex than either.

But in a spiritual way, were they wrong?
The internet actually thought Ron Paul was going to be president at one point which is a more damaging indictment of millennial culture than anything that I regularly see people use to own us

Maybe in the US but not in the UK where there was and is a widespread support for lockdown as polls keep on demonstrating.

However the public also want lockdowns with no negative economic consequences so...
That's not what they're learning. What they're learning is that the mass public hates lockdowns and the consequences of them, and it's politically easier just to let it rip.

This is very bad, but it's not 'capitalism' at work here. It's a mass public with bad priorities.

"The UK says it won't even bother when the next pandemic hits. The lesson most countries have drawn from covid is that letting the old and weak die is better for capitalism. The pandemic was a waymarker on our journey to a harsher, crueller world"

i don't really think the "male loneliness epidemic" is primarily about romance, nor do i think that it's disconnected from loneliness affecting other groups. most of the discussion about this takes MRA logic and just inverts it.
