every day that Heather Humphreys is not asked why she refused to meet with disability activists during the Scrap the Green Paper campaign is another day of ignominy for the Irish press. she's running on her record, yet she's not questioned on it any substantive way

When Steen was campaigning we were told that difference of views should be welcomed. But that was only about LGBT+ rights, Trans people, or abortion.

Not people like Paul Murphy getting a not guilty verdict or having a different opinion on the EU.

it's definitely not actually based in Cyprus because the address of its "head office" is the address of LSTS, the Cypriot corporate services firm that also acts as Tri-Ant's company secretary

there are real restrictions on freedom of speech in this country we could be talking about, ones that undermine both personal liberty and the strength of our democracy, but instead I am cursed to hear about one unpleasant family getting ejected from public events forever

Connolly later said she would not employ anyone on the sex offenders' register. Too late. The papers had their headline. This is how character assassinations work: ask loaded questions in bad faith, reduce the answers to soundbites devoid of context or nuance, wait for ministers to burp out condemnations to keep the story alive. The manufactured scandal becomes a campaign issue. It gets mentioned in debates. The fourth estate in action – degrading public debate while congratulating themselves for their integral role in the functioning of democracy.

a lot of comment on Connolly doing podcast interviews to reach younger voters, but just as noteworthy imo is that she's doing loads of local radio interviews to reach older voters

I'm not gonna lie, after spending a lot of last year trying in vain to get other journalists to pay attention to the mad shit getting spewed on Tipp FM, I am a bit pissed off they've apparently learned to tune in for every single time Alan Kelly attacks Catherine Connolly
