UT-Dallas fired the editor of the student paper, then fired the staff when they went on strike to object, then banned their independent newspaper from campus, and now are trying to discipline the former student editor for fact-checking a letter to the editor? Glad @thefireorg.bsky.social is on this.

UT Dallas has consistently been accused of free speech violations in recent years.

Montclair State University has with no reasonable justification replaced all departments in the humanities and social sciences with four non-disciplinary units, seemingly randomly chosen by uni executive leadership with no regard for faculty input or governance. Terrible & portentous

This is seriously the funniest way to weaponize your position to go after your perceived "enemies." Imagine (in 2025) writing a blog-post on a made-up conspiracy that blames everyone involved but you (the person in charge).

Jesus Christ…it won’t be long before we are told smoking is good for you and you only need to bathe once a month.
3 days ago RFK Jr. told the CDC to stop recommending water fluoridation, claiming it was a neurotoxin (this is a lie).

Turns out he also just eliminated the CDC’s entire Lead Program, and now lead poisoned children in Milwaukee are just on their own. Lead IS a neurotoxin and harms brain development
CDC denies help for lead poisoning in Milwaukee schools due to layoffs
The CDC rejected a request for help "due to the complete loss" of their lead poisoning experts.

The most important thing you must share today.

Trump is destroying your life savings and ability to make a living for 1 reason: he wants to make us all beggars who bow to him, his donors and his family.

Not sure why @chrismurphyct.bsky.social hasn’t posted this here but can’t be posted enough.

This is the John Curtis “townhall” right now. Everything is locked down. No public chat. It’s just him talking at us — coward.
April 2, 2025 at 11:22 PM
Profile in Cowardice. John Curtis refuses to meet with his constituents face-to-face and instead says a paltry 2 hour online session with only a select few of the 3.5 million Utahns he represents is going to suffice. As expected, the spaces are sold-out and unavailable. Fucking coward!

Ppl in power are thinking WAY too small about what Trump is doing.
Even pundits are reaching back no further than the Civil Rights era or the Gilded Age for analogies...but you've gotta go WAY farther back, at least to the 18thC--prob the 17thC--to grasp his neo-colonialist, anti-Enlightenment aims.
When will folks get it? These dark maga fascist freaks don’t want to “bring back segregation”.. Black people had too many rights for their liking during segregation. Yes, you read that correctly. They want something far worse: to end the constitition, along with civil and human rights of all kind.

Yup. Our Governor just said that he hopes he can cut public sector jobs in Utah “with a level of compassion.”
"Cutting is hard. People losing their jobs is hard," he says. "I hope we can do that with a level of compassion."

He says he has instructed the Utah Dept. of Workforce Services to help and get laid off federal employees new work.
