Between X and almost all of the legacy media, it sure seems like the bet that you can simply buy up a media source and replace it with an openly white supremacist and pro-fascist version of the source and very few people will blink or change their media consumption habits was a good one.

You know how whenever you get trolled on here or even if someone’s just being a jerk, people say “block ‘em” because that’s practically the only safeguard here?

Yeah so anyway I did that & now I have a new stalker because of how that person reacted to being blocked.

They have dozens of accounts.

I've said it before and I will say it again. There is no way to secure a system when it's potential attack surface is *all of language*
Looks like LLMs are *very* vulnerable to attack via poetic allusion: "curated poetic prompts yielded high attack-success rates (ASR), with some providers exceeding 90% ..."

Enamel does not regenerate; once you lose it it's gone forever. There is currently no solution available that can effectively regrow it.

The corollary to this is actively finding new hobbies without setting goals for improvement/mastery, but just doing things for the sake of exploration & play

Introing no-pressure hobbies into my life was a game changer
No shade to anyone, but I deliberately avoid making my hobbies & passions my job, bc I've found the second my income depends on an activity I enjoy, I don't enjoy it any more. Anyone else?

Unrelated but hilarious finish:
“The slop hydra rears its head, vomiting into one part of life after another…if one AI-made album is removed from Spotify, six more may take its place. In the near future, we may find ourselves wading through a daily flood of slop, drowning.”

I haven’t seen good numbers on electrified trucking being a sustainable endeavour given the size of the batteries we need for them but for short haul + other adjustments to the logistics chain they would make a meaningful impact

Gemini’s output to a short story prompt here reads auspiciously of Rothfuss
"The silence in the observation booth was heavy, textured, and smelled faintly of stale coffee and ozone. It wasn’t a true silence, of course; the low hum of the ventilation scrubbers and the frantic, rhythmic tapping of analysts on haptic keyboards provided a constant, anxious undercurrent."

They make games and movies like they used to. So many of them. Same with books.

But the mechanisms you learned about them were totally gutted and changed to only amplify shit that's already popular.

It's still there! You're just mostly on your own to find it.

This is how rape culture and a patriarchy works. The loudest, most extroverted men get deference from the ones who prefer to avoid conflict and want to stay in the good graces of the bully. And the consequence is whatever the bullies want to do to women, it’s allowed through complicit silence.

I hope men understand that it is very very rare for anyone who is not a woman’s lover, close friend, or relative to stand up for her when another man insults her in a room of other men. It is incredibly unusual. They may not join in the bullying, but they’re unwilling to step in to stop it.

Bellingcat’s contact email has always been a magnet for people with fairly unusual views; paranoid delusions, sprawling conspiracies, the works. But recently, the pattern has shifted, we’re seeing more and more emails clearly written with ChatGPT.
