Because I’m getting sick of correcting this:

The backflip was initially banned in 1976 after it was done at the Olympics by Terry Kubicka.

Many elite skaters say doing a backflip on skates is, in a lot of ways, easier than triple and quad jumps. However failure also comes with the risk of death

I am in awe over the many and varied ways people find to resist, from the invisible to the right at the front, all of which are valuable for so many reasons (depth and breadth!)

Here's an article about singing:

Minnesota anti-ICE protest goes viral as thousands sing in the streets. They have a songbook you can follow, too
The group, Singing Resistance, has mobilized thousands to use their voice — and the occasional tambourine.

It's largely been lost in the chaos of the last month, but Secretary of Education Linda McMahon is trying to doxx the John Does who sued her for (allegedly) allowing them to be raped by grown men when they were kids and (allegedly) covering it up

@brandonthurston.bsky.social has a write-up:
Vince and Linda McMahon file oppositions to ring boy plaintiffs' request to maintain anonymity in lawsuit - POST Wrestling | Podcasts, News, Reviews | WWE AEW NXT NJPW
McMahons say "John Doe" anonymity will unfairly hinder their ability to find witnesses to clear them. WWE takes no position on pseudonyms.

I *hated* driving in Boston, it was worse than Chicago, even worse than SF (though with fewer steep hills and waymos).
Massholes about to sweep this event until we’ve poured enough money into Boston transit that nobody in the city is allowed to own a car
coming up with a new idea called "driving like shit olympics". no more bland, unprovable statements like "california drivers are the WORST" allowed. whichever state wins every 4 years gets a moonshot-sized public transit investment to get those fuckers off the road

You’ll never guess but the solution to people not having money is to give them money.
"By the end of the two-year period, 94% of participants reported they were housed."

A million pilot programs show the same thing: when people are given enough money to afford housing, homelessness ends.

Other supports matter, but housing comes first. Not policing. Not moralizing. Homes.

with apologies to Douglas Adams

"[a billion dollars] is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to [a billion dollars]."
again we do not really do a good job of explaining how wealthy people like Jeff Bezos are

his net worth is $253.2 billion.
so he could take one million dollars, and just light it on fire
and then do it again tomorrow
and again the day after that
and then do it every day for 693 years and 8 months

Spanberger is a moderate Democrat who used to work for the C.I.-fucking-A. It should put the actions of Schumer and Jeffries into perspective for everyone. Are they Republicans? Because they sure act like it.

They need to get the fuck out.
NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.

Has anyone tried these with irritable bowel and no gallbladder? Asking for a husband
Oh the complicated feelings I have about this. (Not @ Bethany, I have talked about this with Bethany before, and I think this thread captures a lot of the issues.)

Part of the complexity is that everyone's biology is different & so these drugs are doing VERY different things for different folks.
You've heard of semaglutide (Ozempic/Wegovy), tirzepetide (Mounjaro/Zepbound).

But there are new drugs coming, ones that leave these in the dust, and leave clinicians and scientists asking: Can people lose too much too fast? www.scientificamerican.com/article/new-...

By me.
