It’s not one bad apple, or one bad party and nor is it inevitable or any political movement immune - but it is important in this moment we work across all institutions to bring in the scrutiny and transparency that can transform British politics. If you agree share this video.

On almost everything – fraud, polarisation, radicalisation, misinformation – evidence suggests that over 60s are in much more urgent need of online protection and education than teenagers.

But that issue gets zero political attention, and is a total non-starter. Nothing good will come of it.
This was a minor story on London news this morning - but suspect is a real cautionary (and alarming) tale of an older man getting radicalised online.

Auschwitz was at the end of a process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred gradually developed: from ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Last term I tried an experiment: I walked into my Tech and Design Ethics class, admitted that I had *no idea* what to do about ChatGPT - so I would let them figure it out.

As in: their first project was to decide and write the ChatGPT policy for the class.

Nice piece about the forgotten queer artist Marlow Moss, whose work and influence on Piet Mondrian’s work is being reevaluated. “It is now widely recognised in the art world that it was as much Moss who influenced Mondrian as the other way round…” [theguardian.com]
‘Her time has come’: did Mondrian owe his success to a cross-dressing lesbian artist who lived in a Cornish cove?
Piet Mondrian found fame, fortune and glory with his grid-like paintings lit with basic colours. But did many of his ideas come from Marlow Moss? Our writer celebrates an extraordinary British talent who died in obscurity

Yesterday in Horsley, Derbyshire, Reform UK were beaten in a local by-election.

That didn’t happen by accident. Local people organised, spoke to voters, and pushed back.

It shows that when Reform are challenged locally, they can be stopped.

I was only just yesterday talking with my hairdresser about section 28 & how wonderful it is now to see kids wearing pride badges on their school blazers and bags when only a generation ago repression & anti LGBT+ bullying was state mandated at school. I refuse to cede an inch backwards.
If it ever seems like GenX and elder Millennials are obnoxiously loud about queerphobia and, specifically, trans rights, you have to remember we grew up in a society saturated by homophobia and decided "never again". This shame and hatred must not simply be redirected. It must end with us.

wikipedia turns 25 today! the last unenshittified major website! backbone of online info! triumph of humanity! powered by urge of unpaid randos to correct each other! somehow mostly reliable! "good thing wikipedia works in practice, because it sure doesn't work in theory" - old wiki adage
