My college killed the physical print newspaper a few years after I graduated and deleted the entire online archive while trying to convince the paper’s alumni that the latter is just something media orgs do all the time.

Indiana University has fired the staff director of the student newspaper, after disputes in which university leadership tried to pressure him to prevent students from publishing news.

The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

I’ll confess that despite all my talk of “we gotta finish one box of cereal before starting another” to my daughter, the open (and pretty much full) box of Raisin Branch was replaced with Raisin Bran Crunch the following grocery day.

I recently went to open a new box of Raisin Branch Crunch only to realize that I accidentally bought regular Raisin Bran.

Even worse was the fact that it was buy one/get one and I had a second box of regular Raisin Bran waiting for me.

Some friends and I stayed in a rental place this weekend. One of my buddies told us that the door code was the last four digits of his phone number.

I took a shot remembering those numbers.

I wound up reaching all the way back to his parents’ home phone number — but couldn’t remember his cell.
