I agree dark patterns are something else, I saw more if that in design docs, it wasn't really relevant for me to see THIS side of it.

Like I had to draw some increasingly fancy treasure chests for the generic gem purchase, they didn't tell me how much they COST

I've only worked on F2p stuff here and there ( never by choice ) so I was aware of some dark pattern stuff but never this, I guess it's not a surprise though 😮‍💨

(there is now different IAP prices in mobile games for different players, using AI on their data to predict behavior. Higher priced bundles when players are most engaged/vulnerable/addicted, cheap prices when players are about to leave the game to maintain addiction/squeeze revenue)

I have a cross stitch kit that I've been doing here and there for the past few years ( it's not super complicated, I just dont do it super often ) and having something physical that has taken a long time has something to it too, like you can see your effort

Man, this might explain why my past couple of years of learning blueprints ( and having less time for drawing/painting as a result ) has also coincided with me being horrendously fidgety about doing things with my hands, like I just NEED to build Lego or something to stay sane in my down time

The problem with computer jobs is that it's all in your head. You can't touch or eat the code you write, it's too abstract. You need to find something to make with your hands if you want to stay okay

I found a 19th century Cat Villain!

A huge chonk of a fluffy cat sitting on a table near an open fire. The cat is cream and grey and appears to be shaped like a barrel in a fur coat. They are scowling fiercely with their moustache and bewhiskered ears apparently flowing back into the cold wind. There's a definite vibe that this villainous cat twirls their moustache as they evict orphans into the aforementioned blizzard and think Scrooge was an easy-going lightweight. They are magnificent.
