Might be time to send missionaries to share the gospel with the white evangelical church in America.

This week has convinced me that one of the most pastoral things a minister can do is to help their congregants understand that they don’t need to post every opinion they have on social media.

The one time we got the smoking gun of undeniable ideology that mapped neatly onto american partisanship in political violence was J6, and we decided it was too scary to treat it as such, so now we return to deciphering memes of school shooters like medieval peasants panicking at an eclipse.

Was able to get my covid booster with a walk-in appointment today, so I guess smoking cigarettes in undergrad was useful for something.

under no circumstances can the legitimacy of a desire to see appropriate reforms made to our gun laws become an excuse to equivocate regarding any attempt to categorically deny trans people rights - *any* rights - that others retain

It's insane that Googling "Labor Day Bible verse" yields a bunch of stuff about being a good employee and nothing about the eternal torment facing unjust bosses.

Since being a smoker or former smoker supposedly qualifies one for the updated covid shot, can I go to a walgreens and light up a camel so I can get it?

I find this kind of existentially terrifying—to feel convinced that you are bound for hell but completely lacking the faculty needed to avoid that. Coming to the end of your life and realizing that you’ve spent your entirely earthly existence becoming someone incapable of repentance.

I truly hate that I am so easy to startle. I went to walk into the bathroom at the gym and could see the light was off. When I opened the door an employee was just walking out and my body decided to react like I had just come face to face with the literal devil. 🫣🫠

Homeless camps are a policy failure, but "clearing homeless camps" isn't a policy solution, it's the state harassing people for the crime of embarrassing the state with its policy failure.
Press needs to stop repeating govt euphemism of “clearing homeless camps.” I’ve witnessed it in other cities: massive destruction of personal property. Not just bedrolls & tents; family photos, Bibles, meds. Times I’ve seen it people weren’t even given option to move their things.

I think a good contender for a contemporary version of the “I wear many hats” idiom is “I have many email addresses.”

The UCC has a very decentralized polity that means our denomination is messy and disorganized at times. It also means that if you've been to one UCC church, you've been to one UCC church. There's an incredible spectrum of theological, liturgical, cultural, political, etc. difference within the UCC.
Hey #UCCsky, I wasn't able to attend #UCCsynod this year. Quote this with something you'd like others to know about the United Church of Christ in 2025.

This is BS.

I ran for office in a red state and won with 80% of the vote. I regularly talk about my identity when I knock doors. The key is to do so a way that connects to other issues (e.g. being trans shapes how I think about ALL healthcare access, threats to education, etc.).

It's that simple.
