We’ve been waiting for nearly two years for the State Senate to take a vote on our bill. If they have additional proposals, we’re not the ones stopping them.

Btw our legislation includes balanced tax stabilization to help all residents AND additional tax relief for seniors & small businesses.
As Mayor Wu answers questions on the taxpayer shift proposal on Reddit, Senate President Spilka issues statement defending Sens. Brownsberger and Collins, who killed the proposal last year

Love to see the Sedgwick County Zoo putting out a good explainer on why GenAI slop videos of animals are a problem & how to identify them! It’s succinct, easy to read, and doesn’t shame people for not knowing better. A+ useful link to share with family and friends.

No lies detected
Stunned by how dishonest senators like Senate President Karen Spilka and Senator Nick Collins are being about Mayor Michelle Wu's tax shift home rule petition.

It was filed in February. They ignored it. No right to complain that it's a brand new ask. #mapoli

Ilhan Omar will be in office far longer than Donald Trump.

And America will continue to move in her direction until his entire legacy is burned to the ground.
Ilhan Omar is good and America is better off for having her here.

There was a tweet some years back that was like "Being a Democrat is like going to a concert where the band is telling everyone to calm down the whole time" and I think about it a lot
For some reason Democratic leaders seem to prefer telling voters what they won’t be able to do, rather than what they’d like to do.

If Hegseth ordered a war crime and lied about it, shouldn’t Ds try for impeachment? Put Rs on the spot. They might get a few defections.

Jeffries says not to expect Democrats to pursue Hegseth impeachment over boat strikes
"Republicans will never allow articles of impeachment to be brought to the floor," he said.

This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

True confessions - I remember taking the train to Buzzy's.
there used to be a roast beef joint in downtown Boston bang up against the wall of the county jail where they infamously imprisoned Malcolm X and folks when I say Boston has changed what I mean is not only is the roast beef joint gone but now the jail's a luxury hotel

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)

Seven million people came out on No Kings Day, the largest single-day protest in U.S. history, and then followed it up with sweeping every major race on Nov. 4. We did our job in the streets and at the polls. It’d be nice if Democrats in the Senate could get on board.
