A Trump supporter started murdering his way through an assassination list of Democratic law makers FIVE MONTHS AGO. He murdered my colleague Melissa Hortman, and her husband Mark — and attempted to assassinate my dear friend John Hoffman and his wife Yvette. I was also on the hit list. WTF

A lot is written about antisemitism on the left while there's seemingly very little about Islamophobia and anti Arab sentiment in liberalism.

I think that ""AI" critics" should not:
1. interview people who are likely experiencing psychosis and publish their thoughts
2. attribute agency and creativity to chat bots in a way that appears to validate the thoughts of said people

this is a weekly phenomenon in Chicago. 🧵

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

Platner taking his campaign in a “they’re trying to get me” direction after the tattoo is a flashing, Fetterman-shaped warning light for what he could be like if elected, and I think it’s enlightening to see who can see that and who can’t because he’s “upsetting the right people”.

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

Unprecedented in recent times? In 2023 Legia Warsaw fans were banned from a game at Villa Park.

Yes. But remember: Know Your Values, Frame The Debate. Do not accept an unfavorable frame from hostile questioners! It is very hard to do this and requires explicit training because we are socialized from a young age to respond to questions directly (accepting the questioners frame)
Not to defend this word salad much, but part of this tendency of mainstream Dems is because the media relentlessly asking, "how will you do/pay for that". And if the Dem actually coughs up a workable detailed plan, the media just declare it unworkable. Something they NEVER do to Trump or the GOP.

AAA estimates the average cost of owning a car is $12,297 a year, and recommends drivers spend no more than 10 percent of their income on car costs. This means you should make 120K to afford the average cost. Median *household* income in the US is $77K. The math just doesn't work.

the hijack of cbs is a great impetus to fund indie media! but the parallel to twitter is instructive here bc after musk took it over *a lot of people stayed there,* cooking their brains in right-wing slop. and cbs' reputation among low-info normies is much better than twitter's ever was.
Well, when Elon destroyed Twitter, a lot of us move here to BlueSky. So as Bari Weiss and her ilk destroy MSM, why don’t we all move to independent media networks?
