I've been teaching at Wittenberg for 21 years.
Today is a thesis defense for one of the top students in my career here; the kind of student who may be at the limit of what you can teach them, incredibly industrious, independent, and balanced. I can think of a couple other examples, in 2010 and 2009.

Zohran Mamdani doesn’t make me, an American Jew, feel unsafe.

Having the Coast Guard, which falls under the Department of Homeland Security, decide that a swastika isn’t really a symbol of hate? That makes me, an American Jew, feel pretty damn unsafe.

It's not a sophisticated reaction, but my response to both "quiet, piggy" and the Coast Guard okaying swastikas and nooses is a deep sadness that the compassion we're working so hard to foster in our children will not just be challenged by schoolyard bullies but by the highest levels of society.

A lot of the identifying variation is from a new instructor taking over the course, so maybe the advice is to switch up what we teach? How much is content vs instructor is still energized about the course. I'd love to see specs that shut down that extra channel
