Microcosm of how Dems approach comms in general. @sky.skymarchini.net was talking about initiative party-wide the other day, and one element of this is that we crack down on anyone showing individual initiative. It puts us 3 weeks behind the news cycle 100% of the time
like for all the TL paranoia about dark money influencer ops and restrictive contracts and whatever else, they had a dogshit plan that focused on control rather than success.

Gonna be another one of those days being really thankful for the smart, rational leadership of Chuck Schumer, who warned us back in March that it was necessary to immediately acquiesce to Trump on funding the government to make sure literally none of what he’s doing right now would happen, isn’t it

Correct. The default Dem position has to be, "I will fire everyone Trump appointed, and everyone hired by anyone Trump appointed, regardless of what any statute or court says."

Anything less is a ratification of Trump's actions that leaves the government broken and filled with saboteurs.
To make the stakes clear, potential Dem Presidential candidates should say that if SCOTUS allows this they will fire any Trump Fed appointees in 2028. Because that is the logical endpoint.
To be clear, this is the ball game for Federal Reserve independence. If Trump can decide what constitutes "for cause" basis for firing, then every Fed board member can be fired until he has a Board that is completely acquiescent to his every demand.

An outrage. We must chase these cowards out of the community we love, and we deserve a city, county, and state government that's willing to have that fight.

NJ Transit's official data makes it difficult to tell just how bad it is. So @suryamattu.com and I spent three months collecting the raw location data for more than 190,000 trains on NJT, Metro-North, and LIRR. Then @mariepastora.bsky.social made the graphics to show you. The answer: Very bad.

An analysis of real-time train data shows its passengers face major service disruptions at six times the rate of riders on other NYC commuter railways.

Glad to see a driver has been charged for the death of a cyclist on North Avenue in Westfield. Pedestrians and cyclists in Union County shouldn't be at risk every time we travel anywhere.

As a former UAW-unionized legal services staff attorney at a similarly underpaying organization, solidarity to NYC's striking UAW legal services workers. This kind of support staff pay in particular is unsustainable and makes everyone's working lives miserable (and my old employer had it worse.)
It’s the first strike by attorneys representing indigent criminal defendants anywhere in the city since 1994, when then-Mayor Rudy Giuliani cancelled the city’s contract with the Legal Aid Society and new organizations formed to provide the services — including Bronx Defenders.
Bronx Defenders Join Growing Legal Services Worker Strike
Attorneys and legal staff at three groups walked out of negotiations on Thursday, marking the first time since 1994 that criminal defense lawyers for the poor have halted work.
