Four key things leaped out at me: 1) Intense focus on Western Hemisphere suggesting the military deployments will continue 2) Brutal language about “civilizational erasure” in Europe 3) Tough but cautious comments on China — pretty tame actually 4) Little on Middle East, as if its problems are over

The national security adviser is supposed to oversee policy coordination. The secretary of State is supposed to lead on diplomatic negotiations. In theory, neither would be the clean-up crew, because they’re supposed to prevent the mess from happening in the first place.
