If you missed out big, BIG Black Friday sale, you can still catch a nice deal on any ICC book we have in stock!

Your support would be extra-appreciated right now, as we are shaking off the splash damage from the Baker & Taylor bankruptcy, and four figures in invoices will not be honored.
If the snow hasn't caught up to you yet, December is in full force! ☃️

We've still got time for you to save 30% off EVERY BOOK (and ebook!) on the Iron Circus website until the 16th! Buying in advance gives us time to get it in the mail before the big day(s), so don't wait! 📦❄️

I'd argue that any spotify wrapped type thing would be a data heist disguised as "share with your friends". One of several reasons I tell them to get lost on everything I use. Plus I don't need to be read for filth.
Guys, do not use the Discord Checkpoint thing (Discord's attempt at Spotify Wrapped).

It requires enabling them access to scrape your data, and has an alarming amount of private data being used for it.

Make sure you have these disabled.

I thought I was cheesing the new Squirrel with a Gun content by using a rocket launcher from a quadcopter, but apparently that's how the trash monsters are supposed to be fought, judging by the raccoon one.

This is a good time to retell the story of my mom's friend Donna.

In the days before caller ID, my mother answered the phone and Donna said, "I took the dog's heartworm medicine by accident."

"Hello, Donna," said my mother.
In lieu of affordable universal health insurance, Texans will now be given better access to de-worming medication.

holy shit, an accurate legal critique of LLMs. LLMs don't reason because they're just stitching together plausible-looking sentences indifferent to the content

Tzeentch. For AI slop is forever changing and none of what you see can be trusted to be the truth. Ask an AI the same question 10 times and you may get ten different answers. Look at the pictures and count the fingers and limbs. Mutation abounds.
I think it's time to ask the professionals, like @learninglaser.bsky.social & @aotearoabadger.bsky.social, which of the Ruinous Powers best represented by AI slop so that it may be offered to their throne. I fear we may have manifested a new one.

Hey so all fashion is political.

One of the reasons I put a Trans Rights patch on my vest is because I went to a counter protest of a far right rally and spotted a guy dressed exactly like me. The last thing I want is for someone like that to think they're welcome in my spaces based on my outfit.

For years, the disability community has been used by industry as a shield against Medicare For All.

In new polling from @dataforprogress.org, we asked disabled voters whether they support M4A:

62% Support among voters who ID as disabled
63% Support among voters who do not ID as disabled

Embracing a label of "disabled" made me more confident in asking for accommodations. I can't get through a full work day in person without suffering in pain.

If you're a chronically ill person, I welcome you to join this identity.

As always, my spotify wrapped is "I don't use spotify because they don't pay artists and they make money from fascism". Instead, here are some things I think people should listen to, as Artist: Song Title.
New Model Army: Purity
New Model Army: Vagabonds
The Budos Band: Long in the Tooth

I didn't get an answer, so let's crowdsource

How do you effectively make the world accessible to people with disabilities while making sure people who don't need it don't take advantage but without denying access to people who need it?

i think the answer is "stop being a cop about it."
so how do you solve the problem without denying access to people who need it?

lol you'll never convince me a huge part of the reluctance isn't that there's no legal way to make UBI white-only.

Lotta white people in this country are happy to lose as long as nobody Black or brown wins.
I wish more people didn't get mad because "why can't I have $1000 a month for nothing!"
And instead went "why not universal basic income?"

Actually, the likelihood is 100%. In US jurisprudence, accused people are innocent until proven guilty. Hegseth's victims were not proven guilty; they were not even tried. Therefore they were ALL, to the last man, legally innocent. Hegseth ordered the murders of several dozen innocent men.
Rand Paul just posted this letter from the Coast Guard confirming that 1/4 of the boats they stop carry no contraband. The likelihood that Hegseth & Bradley ordered the murder of innocent civilians is very high.

pretty remarkable that Costco has more of a spine in fighting for the rule of law than many major universities and fancy law firms

Fuck the Salvation Army, keep your dollars out of the bigot buckets (but don't harass the bell ringers, they can't change the policy).
It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

There's a couple reasons so many IWW songs are set to the tunes of hymns and one is that the Salvation Army Band would show up and try to stop workers organizing by playing hymns to drown out speeches, so the Wobblies came up with words so they could sing along. SA has been trash all along.
