Privatization will definitely work, so long as we can finally tap that huge collection of unemployed fully qualified physicians wandering around aimlessly in the hospital

If you've convinced yourself privatization is the solution, you've never been a Rogers, Bell or Loblaws customer.

I grew up on all those US TV shows featuring holier-than-thou young lawyers crowing about the sacrosanct nature of the US Constitution.

It's clear that the Constitution is meaningless to enough people to allow this jackass to ignore it as he wishes.

The document has lost its hallowed veneer.

Definitely something wrong with our healthcare system. However, beware the easy non-solution of "just privatize it!"
"Ontario recorded the highest number of wait-list deaths: 10,634, including more than 9,100 diagnostic-scan deaths where patients died before reaching the point of receiving or being scheduled for surgery."

I guess it's not "hallway healthcare" if you never make it to the hospital hallway.

A new report is raising alarm over growing wait-list deaths in Canada.

Turns out that when you describe how "the punters" feel about the economy, Americans think you're talking about blokes who kick footballs, rather than "the people." (Hilarity ensued.)

Fun fact. Nobel laureate (and one of my former professors, see pic below) John Polanyi was born the same year as Anne Frank and MLK Jr.

Dr Polanyi is still with us. Both of those other icons should be, too.

On nights like this, when I can't get to sleep because I'm still keyed up after a Zoom board meeting that goes to 11 (Spinal Tap accent).... I am grateful for the sleeping pills I ordered when @deonandan.bsky.social recommended them and how well they work for me when I need help. Good night!!! 🥱😴

Getting a lot of shit for this quote in Toronto Star. Let's clarify:

-Some evidence that Moderna is more reactogenic than Pfizer; this means slightly more side effects
-There is trivial correlation between reactogenicity and effectiveness

You think wealth inequality is bad now? In two years, this planet will be economically unrecognizable, as AI tech wealth is streamlined into a handful of pockets while hundreds of millions of people are suddenly rendered unemployable. Yes, two years. The "Big Compression" is coming: 2028-2033.
