12YO is watching Stranger Things for the first time. Part way through Season 1, he turns to me and says, "Now I understand what you meant when you said you would go through The Upside Down for me. You've said it my whole life and I never got it until now." ❤️

NORMALIZE GIVING SECONDHAND GIFTS 🎁
Most of us have way too much stuff. Please consider unloading things NOW to groups in your community. Many families are struggling to come up with Christmas gifts this year. In our community, moms are giving away unused items and toys that other moms can give their kids as gifts. Everyone wins. ❤️

My husband does this. Scores points with the kids by saying yes to things he absolutely knows cannot happen because he knows I will step in and shut it down. But he gets to be the good guy who 'tried' while counting on me to wreck the plan.
In the face of global trade shifts and uncertainty, we’re working to build a stronger, more sustainable, more competitive, and more independent economy.

Canada’s MOU with Alberta will ensure we can advance that mission together.

One of my favourite parts of each school day is when my son and I do a crossword puzzle together. The math lesson? Not so much 😜

It's the time of year where my main source of serotonin is homemade bread and melted cheese.

On nights like this, when I can't get to sleep because I'm still keyed up after a Zoom board meeting that goes to 11 (Spinal Tap accent).... I am grateful for the sleeping pills I ordered when @deonandan.bsky.social recommended them and how well they work for me when I need help. Good night!!! 🥱😴

Our middle-schooler has never been so excited to discuss his dad's freakish height with his friends.

He's 6'7".

My grandmother used to talk about how my dad had whooping cough as an infant. Grandpa would hesitate at the door at the end of the day, afraid to go in and learn that the baby had died while he was at work. I had a breakthrough case and totally understand how it kills babies and elderly people.

That sure is some wind out there tonight in SWO! I ignored the crashing sound because I'm in a library board meeting. But the neighbour came to the door to tell us a massive tree branch came down on our cars in our shared driveway. Yikes!!!

We're at a music field trip where kids can try out different instruments. There are currently kids randomly playing electric guitar, violin, trombone, drums, and accordian as they try out new ways of making sounds. It sure is.... something. 🤣

Poor husband will rue the day he, in a moment of frustration, said that I withhold information from him. Guess who gets to hear about everything now — including being cc'ed on all the emails and consulted on all decisions? He's not equipped for the deluge of info I have carried for him for years. 🤣

Potato leek is the soup of the day and this recipe is wonderful. I really like the thyme and lemon in it. The bread is still in the oven but I couldn't resist the first bowl of soup!

Anderson Cooper: So it's more expensive to have a chronically homeless person living on the streets than it is to actually subsidize an apartment for them?

Answer: Yes, we’re paying more as taxpayers to walk past that person on the street and do nothing… #HousingFirst

Kiddo was working on something to do with photography this morning and asked me what a "proof" was. I HAVE WAITED OVER TWENTY YEARS FOR THIS EXACT MOMENT 🤣 😜

And now it's Chrétien day at homeschool.

I always use this video to introduce the topic of blatant stereotypes to my classes. I love that these African men publicly challenge and mock Hollywood's portrayal of them because it is ridiculous.

Thayendanegea (Joseph Brant) was one of the most important Indigenous leaders of the late-18th and early-19th centuries.
A gifted diplomat, he spent his life fighting for the right for his people to remain on ancestral lands.
This is his story.

Yesterday, we attended an open house at a private school we are considering for kiddo when he goes from homeschool to high school. I wanted to cry because the program and supports are so beautiful and why can't our public system be that wonderful? Also, I want to work there.

I have a pathological fear of bats and have had more bizarre encounters with bats than anyone I know. I am currently at the Canadian Warplanes Heritage Museum for a field trip and a bat just swooped at me out of nowhere. Same thing happened in Vancouver Airport. Why? Why?
