The number of ice sightings and ops seem to be going down in many of the city neighborhoods & up significantly in the 1st ring burbs. I think in general they’re finding it harder & harder to get any success so they’re just taking it out on observers

When Texas lawmakers tried to visit 33-year-old “political prisoner” Leqaa Kordia at an ICE facility, she’d already lost 50 pounds and was running a high fever.

By Friday, she was hospitalized. But her family still has not been able to locate her.

99% of modern security products are just some company going "would you like this app that gamifies paranoia" and you going "yeag" like just don't do it. just turn it off
why do you need to observe your house if you're not in it. you are giving yourself an opt-in mental illness. no one has to live like this

I'm not surprised. It's less about the computer and more about power. The computer doesn't have the power to hurt you. Not directly. Yet.

If we reserved this level of curiosity for other people, we might just get along better. But many people just want a mirror that can't tell them they're ugly.
I never thought people would be this excited about talking to a computer.

So Whipple roads get to be as blocked off as the Feds and HennCo sheriff want to protect evil, but Frey/MPD say neighbors don’t get to do partial blocks of roads at all to prevent evil. Cool.

"People are disappointed because the state [and Gov Walz] has options, and it’s refusing to use them. Instead of an eviction moratorium so people can shelter in place, we get the political version of a boss’s pizza party: symbolic comfort and no material protection.”

In addition to @racketmn.com being a wonderful source of Twin Cities news (support them with a subscription), they’re also all good people. Help them help others!
my colleagues at @racketmn.com are raising funds for a local mom who needs help with rent. the total is $4,785—we’re trying to raise $4,000 as a four-person newsroom.

i believe racket readers can do it this weekend!!!

tomorrow i would really like to challenge a few folks with larger followings than me to adopt a rent and raise it in one day.

my little group chat and my followers have paid like 70 families rents in the past four days. i believe that some of y’all could help us keep one family housed.

It’s day 66 of the ICE occupation of MSP.

The news continues to trumpet the so called drawdown, while our immigrant neighbors continue to suffer at the hands of indiscriminate ICE enforcement actions.

Stay alert and in the streets- we need every whistle and witness.

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

I don’t think I can say this forcefully enough: hundreds of thousands of Haitians will lose status tomorrow with racist ending of their TPS & are spending today refreshing their feeds for a court order that could literally save thier lives.

This is nothing short of psychosocial torture.

While skepticism is always warranted, I think Chief Grochow should be commended for intervening regardless of how he got involved.

Living in Mankato, this response and the department’s interest in knowing more/helping is far better than Mankato PD’s nonchalance to ICE calls.

New York has 14 287(g) agreements. 12 started under Trump II, and 7 of those are the dreaded "Task Force" agreements (more on the types here, forumtogether.org/article/expl... —the task force model essentially turns local cops into ICE agents doing status investigations).

Ending these would be big.
