The Hold Steady starting their shows this weekend at 8:30 with no opener is a sign of a quickly aging fan base. Gonna have to rename it Larger Nights Where You Have Three Beers But Are In Bed At A Normal Time.

A good read/listen; it is worth highlighting that the popular definition of a bubble (or its effects on the economy) is very different from the effects of a bubble of the CEO of IBM.
"I am not convinced that the current set of known technologies gets us to AGI."

CEO of IBM volunteers that language is not intelligence on Decoder and throws cold water on LLMs alone getting to AGI. A good one! -> www.theverge.com/podcast/8298...

To be clear, sentiment analysis of social media is *not* new, and is not a replacement for high quality data collection, because of all of the same sorts of issues why AI prediction cannot replace data collection: new issues, and unstable correlates with opinion over time

Sunshine and disclosure laws are so good if written to be.. well, disclosure affirmative.

I dont think the Oklahoma law writers wanted this, but it turns out to be a good law (based on a well structured request)!
Sooo here's a little public records request I just made to the University of Oklahoma.

The point is, before you feel guilty, remember that grocery stores with locked dumpsters contribute way more to food waste than the minor scraps you didn’t meticulously account for in preparing a family holiday meal.

This video is AI (notice her hands, spatula, background details). Misinformation is the real purpose of these tools and everyone knows it.

"Once in a blue moon good shit we can take to a bigger audience comes from crazy right wing people's media forays" is just a way to launder all the rest of the times when we just carry the crazy's water.
Sometimes doing the opposite of a Chotiner interview can be equally illuminating of a subject.

Just look at Mike Johnson on Katie Miller's podcast.

The most embarrassing was not the injury but the context. Big party dinner, me and dad on prep for cioppino and for whatever reason he had bought live clams and decided to hand shuck. I thought he ridiculous.

He was all stressed and rushing and not very successful at shucking and I nagged him.
A person's (legit excruciating, not mocking their pain!) post about getting a huge welt and lacerations from an egg hucked at highway speed has me wondering about the most embarrassing food to be injured by. My mom once burned her forehead badly with a flaming marshmallow, might be up there

I heard there was a Cohen song,

And all the Christians got it wrong,

But you don’t really get the meaning do ya?

‘Cause you see its about getting laid,

It’s sex, and love, and Jewish faith,

But all the gentiles heard was “hallelujah!”
hey guys i made a seasonal meme

In the spirit of encouraging the behaviour you want in your kids I've been replacing "is your room clean yet?" with "tell me a story of cleaning triumph". Results mixed as yet.

I do think there's merit in explaining what the market is trying to figure out, which is... what are these co-dependent producers lending & promising, and where will the new cashflow growth come from. But this isnt the explainer needed. This is hype on inputs everyone wants to know, not "what ifs"
We’re tying in crypto because why not. Again: NOTHING to do with NVDA earnings.

Im still working through this but yes... accounts payable/receivable can be more or less difficult to parse depending on the industry.

But its basic accounting 101 or credit analysis "money due/money expected".
Moving along, this first section alleges the “irregularities”. Let’s start with this paragraph. Accounts receivable is not “hidden”, on any release. It’s a major line item of the balance sheet, part of three key statements every company releases (along with income and cash flow statements).
