Remember when you were someone who cared about people? I kinda do.. shame

Yeah the term AI got co-opted from that direction, it's probably lost to branding and simulacra now.

Does the "thing" build intelligence, knowledge, from the intake, does it make intelligent flaws (like from an emotion), or a precept programmed or learned. Thats true AI. We'll need a diff acronym

The incredible - read impressive - innovation is models that can make micro changes based on 1 million more text lines or whatever.

But i don't see llm outputs any different than my little nonsense because the principles are the same: what can it provide, where are the holes. Its not sci-fi AI

My little code bits that runs every Thursday and has parameters for decisions I didnt want to do myself anymore is a tiny slice of of "artificial intelligence" especially when I give it parameters for basic decisions.

Theres no secret sauce for LLMs except massive inputs for nuanced decisions.

This is the right take, and it points to a branding and "fun/seems convenient" axis versus what a definition of AI is.

I lean towards a bit of automation with instructions of what needs done and not needing further correction to see the task done as being AI, but its just flavor at that point

Im definitely oversimplifying the science, but its a subset-set relationship. A (an?) LLM is a set of machine learning decision-making algorithms

To be clear, sentiment analysis of social media is *not* new, and is not a replacement for high quality data collection, because of all of the same sorts of issues why AI prediction cannot replace data collection: new issues, and unstable correlates with opinion over time

The point is, before you feel guilty, remember that grocery stores with locked dumpsters contribute way more to food waste than the minor scraps you didn’t meticulously account for in preparing a family holiday meal.
