Reform wants to scrap indefinite leave to remain and replace it with 5 year renewable visas which can't be accessed if you ever access benefits.
Basically turning every immigrant in the UK into people vulnerable to exploitation by employers they rely upon to stay in their homes.

I've lived in Scotland for 19 years. Married to a British citizen, British citizen child, native English speaker, PhD from an ancient Uni, employed, mortgaged, community councillor...no longer the "good migrant"...because good migrants don't exist under fascism.

My partner and I already discussed this before. Depending on whether this is a tech-bro proposal or real proposal would alter our response.
If real basic income (and no service cuts), my partner would quit his job to stay at home with the kids and we'd become foster parents.

And...the solution is NOT "pay/bribe corporations to hire people so that we can get jobs on the stats"... a just transition means community/public ownership of the energy sector and investment in the future-education, health, infrastructure. Only real investment will support local commerce.
For YEARS Greens have been saying we need a just transition for ppl in the fossil fuel industry because it will inevitably wind down.
We were told we didn’t care about those workers by right wing parties who didn’t want to think about the future.
Now they’re suffering for that short sightedness.

The headwinds for Mossmorran were clear. That's why in 2022 we commissioned a report looking in depth at future options, followed by summits with trade unions. Governments needed to act much earlier.
Now we need to see real investment in the future of the site and the workforce.

On the other hand, its interesting how the vote goes Labour-Reform so dramatically. It does make me wonder how much of the Scottish reform vote is low-info & got screwed over voters. Considering how many campaigning events I'm at that Reform are trying to hijack..there's an opportunity here.
