Who are the most powerful NIMBYs in California? Realtors
OPINION: “No one should be more invested in expanding creative home sales opportunities than real estate agents, whose job is to help families realize their homeownership dreams.”

The full time job of the modal person with the title of "city planner" in the US is to be a steward of segregation.

Learning that Annemarie Gray (no relation) of Open New York, NYC's YIMBY group, has been appointed to Mayor-elect Mamdani's housing transition team. This is FANTASTIC news!

In a span of barely five years, @opennewyork.org went from a band of ragtag volunteers to a professional organization driving a strong pro-housing agenda in Albany and New York City. If you aren't already involved, get involved!

A reporter asks if Mamdani stands by calling Trump a fascist. Mamdani starts to give a delicate answer.

Trump (smiles, pats Mamdani's arm): "That's OK, you can just say yes. It's easier. I don't mind."

My neighbor told me landlords keep eating his wages so I asked how many wages he has and he said he just goes to the Santa Fe City Council and gets a new wage afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding wages to landlords and then his daughter started crying.
Every city in America needs to tie their minimum wage to the cost of rent. Period. Let's go.

Don’t want to @ the person and get into it but I’ve been thinking about the “Housing may be expensive in a lot of places but it’s not a national crisis” argument. It’s a bit like saying we don’t have a national opioid crisis because there are a lot of places where it’s not that much of a problem.

tapping on this evergreen graphic.

if americans (and canadians, etc) paid fair taxes relative to the cost of service upkeep to their household, suddenly low-density car centric sprawl would be far less appealing.

it is artificially propped up to be attainable to people.

My biggest motivator to being a red plenty/abundance Stalinism person on housing is that destroying single family homes in favor of commieblocks and transit rich walkable communities is eradicating the rentier class and their hitlerite particles.
many YIMBYs i know are actually quite explicit about working against their own financial interest

Sometimes this tendency is even applied to unequivocally good things, like new subway trains!

It's not possible that the government is doing something for the good of the public, it must be that someone is getting rich off of a government contract.

My home state has essentially zero regulations of home schooling, despite the serious potential for child abuse. I have a friend who was homeschooled purely because his parents feared he was gay, so they wanted to have complete control over him. He never learned how to formally write.

Their 50-year mortgage plan bombed & they won’t build housing or touch Wall Street landlords, so they’re hoping you blame your high rent on immigrants.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

It's especially infuriating when you consider that nearly half of American adults fly less than once a year and roughly 15% have never even been on a plane.
Caved to save Thanksgiving flights. JFC.
Sen. Angus King on why Democrats caved: "It wasn't working."

Listen to Mamdani last night.

"We will prove that there is no problem too large for government to solve and no concern too small for it to care about."

Fuck yes. That is the democratic socialism I believe in.
