The thing I loved about that Bad Bunny performance: he felt less like the star and more like a tour guide. Every second was spent proudly ushering us into another story about culture and community.

The media desperately wanted to give the right a cultural moment and the problem is that they have no culture.

The funny thing about a certain type of angry conspiracy guy is that they’re literally being confronted with an elite paedophile ring and a tyrannical government at the same time right now, and because it isn't being done by the people they wanted it to be done by they’re all being pussies about it

over at liberal currents we've been emphasizing from the start the personalist nature of trump II--and on top of that, its highly ideological nature, and its fundamentally aesthetic conception of politics. all of these things are anathema to basic *state capacity.*
the smartest thing to do right now would be to make a show of disciplining some ICE agents and quietly pull back from minneapolis. the president offers his condolences and maybe even makes a direct donation to the family. you fire bovino and replace him with someone more quietly depraved, etc.

The worms that staff the board room at Target can’t even muster the courage to call things straight. Meanwhile, the patriots of their home city will hold fast to the flag and stand millimeters from the war machine.
This administration is cooked. Literally no one is scared of them.

Republicans: everyone must be able to carry any gun at all times,
up to and including high powered rifles, to protect themselves against tyranny

also Republicans, without batting an eye: carrying a gun is unquestionable justification for federal agents to shoot you dead in the street

I know there are worse things going on. Far worse. But this polymarket post is a psychological nadir for me at a level far above the US government. An epoch-defining nadir in two lines.

So literally nothing. Beautiful.

This is exactly right. In many ways, the next generation of the GOP is far, far, far worse than Trump for NATO/EU. And that cadre will never be more than spitting distance from power because the pro-NATO old guard didn’t have the minerals to damp-proof the house against the rot.
Even after Trump is gone, the world will remember that he threatened to forcibly seize the territory of a peaceful democratic ally, and our institutions failed to immediately remove him. That makes US dangerously unreliable, not just one senile gangster.
His not being impeached by the end of the business day as a result of this threat is as much a problem as the threat itself. It’s not just Trump that the world has to worry about, it’s a GOP that supports him and Democrats who suck their thumbs and refuse to even discuss pushing to remove him

extremely savvy takes out there, such as "if the democrats say the word 'affordability,' the electorate will ignore the fact that they cannot do anything about it" and "it would be political malpractice to associate the republicans with a policy polling at 4% which would destroy the world."

BARTIROMO: You're getting heat on social media for saying you can eat healthy for $3. Some people say, 'How am I supposed to get a piece of chicken for under $3?'

ROLLINS: When you eat healthy, it actually is less expensive than a fast food meal. We've got hundreds of simulations that show that.
