I'll ask what we're all wondering about Fetterman's book: Is there a jacket on the book or did he refuse to put one on it?

[Scuffling can be heard]

Unhand me! It's a valid question!

THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

Big news from South Dakota! Ag. regulations being proposed by Republicans 👀

“We can sit here and talk about it, and dance around it all day. I think you can have some incentives, but we’re going to have to look at some restrictions as well, and regulate.”

Good (and predictable) news. Will his comments about gutting bike facilities also get bipartisanshipped out of the bill? Probably in the Senate.
Big news: House GOP head of transport committee says he wants to retain the mass transit fund, defying the Trump Admin’s proposal, which I detail below ⬇️

subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2025...
Trump Administration is to propose a massive cut in federal transit funding as part of 2026 transport legislation.

This proposal would decimate the nation's transit systems, while not actually solving the revenue problem federal transportation funding faces.

If this guy knew about the social correlates of health, he'd get so excited to add another cost to people already burdened by capitalism and racism.
Markwayne Mullin: "Reward people for being healthy. Think about this. Healthcare is the only industry that you're not rewarded for taking care of your responsibility. If you think about homeowners insurance, if you're within 500 feet of a fire hydrant, your insurance goes down."

Back in 2019, @ntsbnewsroom.bsky.social did a bike safety report. They analyzed a big sample of US cyclist fatalities, and found that a plurality were hit from behind by a driver away from an intersection. You can’t VC your way out of that.

They recommended separated bike lanes to mitigate risk.

A good counter point to victim blaming rhetoric is noting that the best cyclists in the world get hit by drivers. It's not about skill; it's about lack of infrastructure and dangerous drivers (yes, even in the Netherlands). This happened in broad daylight too.

1st nationwide assessment of vanished glaciers:
>40% of the glaciers inventoried in 1973
~13% (47±3 km²) of total glacier area loss! 🧊🔥

But, as it is based on the latest inventory (from 2016), the actual figures are far much higher! 📈 😰
