Most economists agree that by age 50, you should:
-own at least four unpronouncable curses
-get advice from at least two murders of crows
-dress in the skins of your enemies
-have perfected your maniacal laugh
-become feared and loved by all who know you
Most economists agree that by age 50, you should:
- own at least one magic sword
- get advice from an enchanted bear skull
- be covered by a thin layer of moss & lichen
- disappear into a malevolent fog once a month
- become a creature of myth & legend in the old forest

Kahless tells us to breathe life into that which we love. Celebrate the things you hold dear, share them with others, and let no one stifle the breath of things you cherish.

Today I was browsing at my comic shop when someone shouted out my pen name. He and his wife recognized me. We got to talk about books for a bit.

I am NOT used to being recognized in public. This was new and awkward and awesome.

Awkward and awesome in the same moment is pretty cool.

I would still need to work to support my family (probably), but I'd definitely spend more time writing. And maybe with the UBI, I'd be able to write full time.
Honest question: If everyone got Universal Basic Income, no strings attached, what would YOU do with it?

Boycotts are all well and good, but have we tried singing an entire musical number about how much an oligarch sucks the second we see them in public?

Seriously, I think the Muppets were on to something there.

I LOVE browsing. I get more comics that way, and explore more books. Granted, that's pretty much all I browse, but that's also almost all I purchase for myself...
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

I made it through the time I couldn't dress as me. I'm finally home and not boymode, and y'all, I haven't felt this euphoric for a good long while.

#WIPSnips dedicate

Titus flung himself to a bot that hovered ten feet over the ground. He shoved the programming aside and disabled the tampering alert this bot had. His sensors came online; his propellors, his cameras, everything this bot used.

The gods returned and judged the earth. “They will serve,” one announced. “The humans will certainly infect the enemies’ planets and destroy them. We have designed them well for destruction.”

I like many things that are bad. I actually like Taco Bell, for instance.

Like bad things. Understand they're bad, but still like them!
begging people to learn to separate “i like it” with “it’s good.”

i like some things that are objectively crap. you can admit that you do too. it’s fine

Arrakis, a desert, planet, can you believe it? Some people call it Dune, I call it Arrakis. The SPICE must flow, and quite frankly, it will be flowing much faster than under the failed DUKE LETO. Maybe he was a nice guy, maybe not,I think he was jealous of me! We're looking into that very strongly.

#WIPSnips zigzag

He had to get the alert before it got behind another security wall. He zigzagged around it, off a drone, off an office router, rocketing toward the star—he grabbed it! Ha! Just a quick twisting around—yes! The alert cracked open. He triggered acceptance.

“When will the next shipment arrive?”
“Hopefully never, madame.”

Using the belief that creators are the "petite bourgeoisie" to justify pirating books/stealing art is EXACTLY what makes it so hard for anyone who isn't rich to pursue their creative dreams

If you steal our art, you PERSONALLY are preventing us from building sustainable careers
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

We're not lounging around eating bonbons. We're trying to figure out how we're going to be able to pay rent next month.

I'm on day three of solid boymoding. I thought I was doing so well!

And now all the dysphoria is crashing on me at once. I've exiled myself from family for a little bit to see if I can get a handle on myself before rejoining them.
