2/🧵 First, take a moment to reflect. If you, as an adult, feel threatened by the UCP using the clause against teachers, imagine you are a child having it used not once, but THREE times against you, because this govt does not want you to continue existing. Find your empathy and let yourself be moved.

How DARE they name any of their attacks on human beings after anything connected with that book?!!!!

It's true, E.B. White's _One Man's Meat_ is full of his musings on the rise of fascism (and the challenges of being an egg farmer).
NEW: Gregory Bovino is exactly who E.B. White — author of 'Charlotte's Web' — warned us about.

DHS named its North Carolina anti-immigrant effort "Operation Charlotte's Web." In 1940, White wrote of the "smell" that "rises" from those who "adjust to fascism" over freedom.

Anything that limits access to the vote is suppression. Here in Alberta, the current conservative govt did their level best to suppress the vote by banning tabulators. Their next move is to try and get citizenship added to our driver's license bc that will be an expensive pain in the ass for people.
After the Supreme Court announced it would consider a case that could eliminate mail-in ballot grace periods, key Republican players immediately jumped at the chance to lay the groundwork for their next target: early, in-person voting.

We can have a sober national conversation about how much immigration is suitable to meet our social and economic goals. But scapegoating immigrants for the state of housing and health care obscures the real causes of these crises and stokes resentment against vulnerable members of our communities.
The myth of the immigrant threat
Anti-immigrant sentiment is surging in Canada, with politicians and pundits blaming newcomers for crises like housing, health care, and unemployment. But these problems stem from policy failure and in...

Part of the problem is the way We have treated scientific discovery as if it is made by brilliant men.

All science is built on the science that came before. It is collaborative in multiple ways.

All attempts to credit a single scientist with THE crucial discovery are flawed.
