Trial by jury is a cornerstone of our democracy and an essential safeguard against authoritarianism.

It is truly frightening that such a fundamental freedom is now under attack.

Once rights are lost, they are not easy to win back. We must resist this with all we’ve got.

remember all us dumb crazy extremists saying that horrors including lack of trials we were proudly doing during the 'global war on terror' would make their way back home

even though doing it over there was wrong enough, you just *thought* people might not want it all done 'over here'

Anyone else remember when Jeremy Corbyn was allowed as much leeway as Nigel Farage is getting for alleged antisemitism before he got removed from his position…?

Nope, me neither…. 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

Pity the Daily Mail and Daily Telegraph etc can’t be bothered to call out this blatant racism…. 😒
According to Nigel Farage, antisemitism is now just “playground banter”, yeah?

He didn’t “directly abuse any individual”, he says - in other words, his racism was towards ALL Jews rather than just one…

Farage calls all of these students liars - who to believe, eh…? 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️🙄🤦🏻‍♂️

Time to get rid of him… 🤮

Oh, but it does matter Nigel. It matters a great deal.

The claims were reported 13 years ago, Nigel... 🤮

Juries are not perfect.

Many of the worst miscarriages of justice have followed jury trials.

But the merit of juries is not so much the power they have, but the power they prevent others from having.

They mean a judge cannot just nod-along with prosecution evidence and give a guilty verdict.
