Chuck Schumer coordinated this & then didn't even have the fucking courage to vote for it.

One of the most pathetic political leaders in American history.
Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.

1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.

Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

The Senate Democrats just sacrificied one of the few opportunities they have had to use leverage to effect positive change. That in no way exonerates Trump. But it does indicate new congressional Democratic leadership is needed.

You can say that the coming spike in health care costs and overal gutting of government services is 100% Trump's fault AND that the national Democratic party in Congress is failing as an opposition party. Those are wholly conistent views.

I called Hickenloopers office & told him I'd never vote for him again. I'd vote for a primary or, if he's the candidate, I'd leave my ballot blank.

@bennet.senate.gov is running for governor, I'm voting for @philweiser.bsky.social.

Assuming he used his pull & she got a non binding promise to re-visit her financial aid package at a later date.
Feeling spicy might delete but I used to work with Chuck Schumer's eldest daughter, and when she was getting ready to go to Yale Law she was dissatisfied with her financial aid package so she made them do a three way call (at the office) with her and her dad to push for a better package

Important to understand this. There's a reasonable chance that your Dem Senator who voted against it and is acting mad now was in on the play. It's the same reason why they scheduled the surrender for AFTER the election this week. They didn't want people pissed at Dems right before an election.
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

A unifying theme of every Democratic failure & frustration is poor leadership within the party.

Text fundraising is from outside groups & a scam - poor leadership

Left groups pissing Centrists off & controlling messaging - leadership

Senators breaking with their party for nothing - yup leadership
One of the issues during Biden was you had 2 Dem Senators who, even with a 50 Dem "Majority" would not go along with nearly anything to make an impact on the future. Somehow under Trump, and with those 2 Senators gone, you now have 8-10 Senators who are afraid to take a stand. Disheartening.

The majority of US voters, so far as I can tell, flatly do not care about trans people one way or another. They aren't necessarily especially friendly to them, but they clearly find the notion that they're supposed to obsess over them distinctly offputting. (Despite major efforts by the right!)
