Cable news has people entirely too engaged with news stories that have nothing to do with them that they have no control over. But they're clueless that their local government is trying to bring a data center, raise their energy prices and close two middle schools.

1. The president is cheating.

His tariffs are pushing up the price of everything, which means inflation remains high, which means interest rates remain high.

But instead of rethinking a ruinous national sales tax, which is what tariffs are, he’s bullying those who set interest rates.

This is so important. "Sense of place" used to be about what YOU felt about a place that made it special. Now we're being bombarded by corporations and politicians telling us what it is. And, it's not good! We must tune out the noise and find joy in connecting with nature and others who get it.
i love talking about adaptation. mitigation is important, but adaptation is exciting: what are our shared values and goals? what kind of world do we want to live in? how can we use this moment, where we are being forced to adapt to the reality of the climate crisis, to shape that reality?
For climate activists, adaptation has been a dirty word.

In this piece today I ask whether a new UK-based proposal from the Climate Majority Project @climatemajority.bsky.social has legs.

White America, we need to invite the screams of brown-skinned people inside, to let them break our hearts and boil our blood until the fury within us erupts in a sustained roar that violently disrupts an inhumanity that will not stop unless we make it stop.

as a jew, i feel relieved and vindicated that cynical fearmongering about israel did not win this election for a sex creep and grandma killer, a win which would have been declared ‘on my behalf’ and which i and most of my fellow jews did not want
I'm hearing a lot of "Jews in New York are scared" today. So, a couple of thoughts: 1) Jews should be angry, not scared. We were targeted with a relentless, heavily funded barrage of lies playing off of real fears of antisemitism by a man who came within 7 points of winning. That reeks of contempt.>

I think what establishment democrats need to understand is that most of us hate them all very much for being so persistently useless and shitty in our time of desperation and it fills our hearts with hope and joy when someone who might not be those things beats them.
