A friend of mine got surgery so that the left and right sides of his body are both perfectly smooth and vertical. It might seem strange, but I think he's fully justified.

I always thought Udo Kier was in 2001 and Black Christmas, so today I just realised that I've been mixing up Udo Kier and Keir Dullea for years.

Jesus, why does Kash Patel always look like he's just sharted and he's hoping nobody notices?
DC jury acquitted the Sandwich Guy. Lindsay Halligan can’t even bring an indictment because she’s not legit. Jeanine Pirro couldn't get a conviction because she’s incompetent.

As the judge pointed out, incompetent Pam Bondi completely screwed up the appointment of Halligan in violation of the law.

Join your union.

In Australia, union fees are tax deductible, and the benefits of being a union member (representation, legal advice, discounts on things, enterprise agreements, etc) far outweigh the cost.

Don't let your employer screw you over
For The Workers | Join Your Union Today | Australian Unions
Make the best decision of your working life by joining nearly two million union members. Together, we fight for higher wages, better conditions and stronger work rights for all.

The UK is about to give the US an extra £3bn a year.

The NHS 'can't afford' to pay doctors £500m a year more.

But it will give the USA 6x as much for nothing.

My knowledge of colors is not sophisticated enough for this game.

The first novel I ever read where some events happened only a few blocks from my house. The movie version is little-seen but excellent.

Old man: And how are you doing, young one?

Me: I'm good, thanks!

Old man: That's the way it should be.

Me: And what are you up to this evening?

Old man: Oh, watching movies.

Me: Hey, me too! Whatcha watching?

Old man: I like that paranormal shit.

I love my heat pump. With four adults in the house running the dishwasher and washing machine, we've never one had the hot water run out during a shower.
Heat pumps are the most efficiency heating technology ever invented.

That's because they harvest, compress and transport pre-existing heat from the air, the ground or the water.

Compared to a gas boiler heat pumps deliver ~4x more heat for each unit of energy inout.

Amazing news. Bacteriophages are our best hope of surviving antibiotic resistance, so anything that makes them more therapeutically effective is one more step away from the edge.
I like this new phage paper by Ghatbale et al.

It appears that host range and killing power of phages targeting antibiotic-resistant bacteria strains can increase in lab evolution.

The narrow host range of phages is a serious issue in using them clinically against resistant infections. 🧪

Experimental phage evolution results in expanded host ranges against antibiotic resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates - Nature Communications
Ghatbale et al. adapted a co-evolutionary technique to develop Klebsiella pneumoniae phages to be highly active longitudinally against K. pneumoniae clinical isolates, including drug resistant isolate...

Yes, he went there.
Rep. Eugene Vindman: " I want to start by condemning the president for calling for six Democratic members of Congress, all of whom are patriots who served our country to be hanged. It is the kind of thing we expect from a Saudi Crown Prince, not an American President."

I will never forget having to edit Jamal’s final, posthumous piece for the Washington Post, after he was murdered.

He was calling for free expression in the Arab world. You can read it here :

Opinion | Jamal Khashoggi: What the Arab world needs most is free expression
The Arab world needs a modern version of the old transnational media so citizens can be informed about global events.
