I take great joy and pride in having cracked at least two eggs in the last year, and having turned at least two others onto correct dosages, against their doctors' apparent wishes.
Fuck the prime directive anyway, but especially while we're subjected to active epistemicide. The more eggs you can crack, the more trans girls in the world who are informed enough & personally invested enough to resist our genocide. We can resist the cis by merely being there in growing numbers...

Three weeks ago I marked nine years on Testosterone.

I didn't celebrate it then because I was in the middle of a multi-month battle to be allowed to stay on it, despite not producing my own hormones and simply wanting to remain on the exact prescription I'd had for nine years without any problems.

I have been able to regain access to my necessary medication (and thankfully was able to avoid going without during my fight for it). But I know many people who are having the exact same fight right now. Including people who've been settled on hormones even longer than I.

There is simply no medical reason to take a person, cold-turkey, off of a medication they've been stable on for almost a decade, with no offer of anything else - and when the lack of that medication causes irreversible lifelong issues up to and including death.

If you think that the current state of trans healthcare in the UK is because of concern or caution, I'd encourage you to think again.

It's not medically informed, it's a reactionary response to transphobic bigotry whipped up into a frenzy over the past few years.

And it costs lives.

I think it's really important to understand how thorough the guidelines were that recommended the use of puberty blockers, and that careful oversight was always part of the care plan.

The government took this decision out of the hands of medical professionals and the families and people involved.

For those that don't know what this is - the government suppressed this expert report on Clinical Guidelines for Transgender Health 24 hours before it was due to go out, and played politics with the lives of young transgender people.

You can now read the report in full.

After the year I've had transitioning semi-privately then publicly, there's a lot to think on in this thread.

Even though I've superficially been eager, I recognise some of these mental blocks though.

Currently working on making my definitions of gender more *flexible*, for me and for others.
There's this pattern that I've noticed in trans people online that are not quite ready to accept that they're transgender yet. It applies to men and women in different ways. I'm going to talk about trans women for this thread though because that's where my heart is, anyway...

I did not know that Australia invented spreadable butter, nor that it was illegal at the time.
Dairy 'disrupter' who invented spreadable butter in 70s wins science award
An 86-year-old farmer claims this year's Dairy Science Award for inventing spreadable butter, during a time when mixing oils with cultured cream was illegal.

Using the belief that creators are the "petite bourgeoisie" to justify pirating books/stealing art is EXACTLY what makes it so hard for anyone who isn't rich to pursue their creative dreams

If you steal our art, you PERSONALLY are preventing us from building sustainable careers
Honestly, people calling creators the "petite bourgeoisie" makes me want to snap.

We're working folk. And we work really hard. For next to nothing.

Oh fuck. I've just found out that Estrogen Receptor Positive breast cancer (the type I had) has a recurrence rate of up to 50%, potentially over a decade later.

I had just celebrated 10 years of being cancer free, and now I learn I have to continue keeping watch and if it comes back, it's worse

I did a paint and sip thing this week as an end of year activity with my broader team.

The first image is what we were aiming for, the second is the one I made - which I think is better. I ran out of time to add trees on the fat shore or more reflections of the mountains
