I do get it to some degree if you're really desperate or touch-starved, especially if you've never done it before. Starting somewhere really helps with all of that. But I hate it being used as an excuse, I guess? Hot people are everywhere. Good sex mostly just takes good communication.

Honestly, I think it's kinda weird when people act like just because somebody's hot they *need* to sleep with them. I get the scarcity mindset wrt relationships and I *definitely* understand problematic (but persuasive,) lust, but it's never really been the sole or even primary...

Yeah spot on. He might even still say he doesn't support JKR's views but it doesn't matter: he took her money and helped her to make more of it. She uses that to hurt trans people directly. If he'd looked into the issue even just a little bit he'd know this.

I mean lets be real: they're defending their ability to claim that patriarchal bargain by linking it back to their sexuality to make a point I'd otherwise agree with. ie. dating men seems like a fucking nightmare. You lose all sympathy when you use that as a cudgel against lesbians though.

Yeah, I was too, especially since he'd come out against it for the IT crowd, (www.independent.co.uk/arts-enterta...) but I feel as though he's proved with this his allyship ends at his wallet and his personal convenience. It takes much less to make a statement than to live by it.

and like, I'm sure a lot of people would be mad at me for pointing that out, but no: a lot of bisexual women exclusively date men in monogamous relationships. that doesn't make them less bi or less attracted to women, but it absolutely *does mean* they can do the math and swing the other way.

I'd go even further to say that's what makes them a liberal instead of a leftist in the first place, because it's the same hubris/blindness making them believe they can reform the system rather than replacing it with something else.

but really though, it's more of a surprise when liberals stand up for our rights than when they don't. even when they're not actively transphobic, they're often transmisogynistic in a way that stops them listening to and speaking out for us. I don't consider them allies unless they actually earn it.

In Australia, some of the biggest investment in public housing with bipartisan support was also after WW2.

Although neoliberalism explains failures to build big in this housing crisis, I also suspect it's because today's homeless aren't seen as sympathetically as veterans were after WW2

It’s so funny how every time Jared Leto does his method acting in a film, the director and crew have to go out of their way to be like “woah it was so intense, he was so in character, it added so much depth” and then you watch the film and he’s giving the most lazy, no-thought performance possible
