If the forecast holds up, we may get almost half an inch Tuesday from a storm from the north. That’s a lot for October! But then we may get nothing.

My favorite migratory #birds have been gone over a month but memories of the Hooded orioles remain strong! #WorldMigratoryBirdDay
A very sunny yellow and black male hooded oriole is perched on a blue fence rail facing the camera so his jet black throat patch is visible.

A Gary flyby sent all the winged one zooming. First one back was the Monarch butterfly, back to almost the same leaf it was on before the scattering.

Solar panels fully deployed. #invertes

They’ve been around the sun a time or two. But not many, right?

Yes, something about the big dark eye staring at them! He’s got your number now. I hope you get more opportunities though.

They think they know better… 🪶
A Song sparrow is standing on a camera with its feet on some of the adjusting controls as if to say “Let me help you.”

Possibly the same medium size hornworm from a few days ago. It is on the same Desert Willow about 20 feet from where I saw it last, as the crow flies but as the caterpillar crawls maybe 60-70 feet! Hang tough, little dude, I hear some rain might be on the way in a couple days. #invertes
Sphinx moth
A green caterpillar with white stripes is high up in a tree that is a host plant.

Possibly the same male Monarch butterfly as earlier today, a male anyway. Resting up on the #Metalbirds
#invertes Western population
A yard ornament of a couple swallows facing each other laser cut from metal has a monarch butterfly resting on it in the afternoon sun.
